Can anyone tell me how much the total price would be for my to have the new album shipped over to the UK from HMV Japan?

Ive used a converter (probly wrong, i know) to work out that 2500 Yen is arround 11 quid but the HMV website dosent say how much it costs for delivery to the UK.

Ive never ordered anything from overseas before and am a bit in the dark :?

Please help cos i dont wanna wait a few years an then buy the jap version off Ebay for stupid money like i did with ....Must Be Destroyed

Cheers :)

Shouldnt be too much mate , 11 quid is about right.

Cant say exactly how much it would be but you wont have to pay more than £20 if that even.

I plan on ordering it from there seeing as there is supposedly the extra 4 tracks and released a month earlier. Wether that will stick we'll have to see.

Damo was just pointing out the teensy flaw in my bulk ordering plan. There is a way around it, but it involves fraud and loss of postal insurance. :?

From HM revenue and customs.

2.2 Do I have to pay import duties and/or import VAT on goods sent to me?

Most goods arriving in the UK from outside the EU are liable to any or all of the following taxes:

• customs duty
• excise duty
• import VAT

and must be paid whether:

• you purchase the goods or receive them as a gift
• the goods are new or used (including antiques)
• the goods are for your private use or for sale.

2.3 Are import duties and import VAT always payable?

No. Customs duty is waived if the amount is less than £7(A).

Excise duty is not payable on gifts of tobacco and alcohol unless the quantitative limits set out in paragraph 2.5 are exceeded.

Import VAT is not payable on:

commercial consignments eg goods purchased over the internet with an intrinsic value not exceeding £18, but this does not include alcohol, tobacco products, perfume or toilet waters.
• gifts, excluding alcohol, tobacco, perfumes and toilet waters, with a value not exceeding £36 and which comply with the rules shown in paragraph 2.4.
• gifts of alcohol, tobacco, perfumes and toilet waters that are within the quantitative allowances detailed in paragraphs 2.5 and 2.6.
There are a number of other circumstances where relief from some or all customs charges may be available. If you think your goods may be eligible for a relief you should contact the National Advice Service for further information.

(A) Import duty on CD's is charged at 3½% and VAT is 17½%, however if it's only going to cost about 15 quid (ala geordierussell's), you won't pay either (No import duty as 3½% of £15 is about 53p, and no VAT as it's less than £18.).

Stuff I've ordered from Japan has generally taken no longer than 7 days by airmail. Which is quicker than some stuff I've ordered form across the channel!

I've happily ordered 2 CDs at a time from there before on two separate occasions, but it might be luck that they got through. I think if you pay the small surplus for gift wrapping, you'll get away with a higher value. A gift to yourself!

Mine's ordered with HMV.co.jp. Not too sure where I'll be ordering the UK release from yet. I see that Cargo isn't lining it up yet. Perhaps PLAY.com might get the winning bid.

Anyone here ordered downloadable music from HMV.co.jp?

Like the cover artwork by the way. Very clean, minimalistic, simple, effective....and very un Wildhearts like.

The japanese amazon has now got it listed , or at least i think it has. Anyone got a decent language translator ?

Well it aint got tracklisting but it is due out for the 28th aswell like the hmv japan.

Personally id rather go with amazon. Hmv generally is terrible.

And just looking its 2,500 yen which is roughly £11 ish thats tax included and it says that it would be free shipping cause its over 1,500. Wether that includes U.K i aint sure.

Ah, no. That's just domestic postage (like the send-it-for-free-but-you'll-have-to-wait-'til-they-can-be-arsed option over here). It's another ¥3,000 to ship to the UK. That's ¥2,700 shipping and ¥300 handling charge (which seems an excessive amount to pay a spotty Japanese youth to get it off the shelf and put it in his little wheely-cart thing  ).

From others' reports, HMV Japan doesn't appear to be infected with the towering ineptitude that afflicts the UK end of the operation, so you might be better going with them?

Thanks for that Ean , yep looks like hmvjapan is gonna get the nod for this one.

People have said on here that the japan hmv is alot better than the uk version anyways. Hope that is the case

The total cost from hmv is ¥3,881 which is around £17. Pretty reasonable i think. Just ordered it , Should get the album a few weeks before the tour starts at least. Wouldnt want to go to the gig without knowing the songs at all.

Goddamnit! HMV.co.jp have just emailed me to tell me that my order has been postponed to April 18th! Now, what I really need is confirmation of those tracklistings so I can cancel my order if needs be....
