Silkenone, you may say The Sun has 7.8 million readers, but I still think its a joke. One that doesnt even get a chuckle. Thats my view, Im not forcing it on anyone, Im just saying it.

Hope the upcoming interview is a big one.

I mention numbers only to point out the potential audience for a positive 'Hearts review - a prospect that excites me as a fan anyway.

Good point, at least you actually bothered to review it.

Spleen venting would be better aimed at those who didn't bother, mentioning no names *cough*Express, both variations*cough* (plus for generally being the spawn of satan whilst simultaneously, and somewhat annoyingly, publishing two of the best three strip cartoons ever, damn them! )

James - Yes, of course. I have no problem with that.
I have my own views on the paper - but don't intend sharing them on a WH message board.

I'm posting from a fan's perspective - not as a journalist. That's all I'm saying. And seeing them in the national newspapers excites me - and it excites them too.

As for the interview - I'm battling to get it in asap. We did it in Tutbury back in January (what a night!), so it's starting to feel a little whiskery.

While I'm on - a message to all those PM-ers wanting to send demos and stuff. I don't actually write for the Sun or sftw for my job. I'm a sub-editor in the papers features section (cutting, re-writing, headlines and shit) so I'm not in much of a postion to help I'm afraid. Sorry.

I wrote a review on Valor purely cos I loved it and badgered the powers that be to put it in - and the rest has stemmed from there. Just wanted to spread the word any way I could.

How can a positive Wildhearts review that will reach a massive audience possibly be a bad thing?

Nobody's saying that the review is a bad thing. Just that the paper that's printing it is a shitrag. I completely agree that any review that gives the guys the credit they deserve is a good thing, wherever it appears. But the Sun is the Man Utd of the newspaper world - it's the most popular, but also the most loathed - so you shouldn't be surprised that people express that.

Shit, if we all started blindly supporting every publication that printed a positive Ginger/Wildhearts story, we'd all have to start buying Kerrang again...........
How dare you!

Nothing personal here Silkenone. Please do not be offended about comments regarding your employer.

Why Do I hate the Sun newspaper?

In a word, NORTH, well actually two words, THE NORTH. The Sun has always acknowledged that there is a North, but they hate the fact that it exists.

You call me a liberal, sandal-wearing, Guardian-reading stick-in-the-mud, but, in case I haven’t mentioned it before, I think The Sun newspaper is a pile of [insert word meaning ‘excrement’ here]. And for the record I do not wear sandals and have never bought the Gairnaud. Don't get me wrong, I'd use it and abuse it to get my own means, but I'd never buy it.

My biggest problem with the Sun is one of the shining stars of the North, Liverpool.

In the past The Sun has been very quick to point the finger at Liverpool FC supporters (Hillsboro and Heisel) and also quick regarding Liverpool dockers.

They and their sister News Of The World, are also very quick to grab a headline for a quick buck for the latest "hip" star, but are keen to leave out relevant details, like the truth. Other publications have similar attitudes, but TS seems to take the lead on these.

I am a tad fuzzy at the mo, so these rambling may, or may not make sense, but hopefully you'll get the drift. Buy the Sun if you are a white van man who lives in the south. If you are a northerner, then continue to live in a cave!!! ONLY KIDDING........or am I??

And there's me trying to be diplomatic (for a change). I might just edit my post to say "what he's about to say...."

Im not saying the review is a bad thing. Just that i dont really like the paper. Didnt think by me saying that people would be bothered. Me saying I dont like it isnt going to change the fact its probs the biggest paper in the UK.

Even my mate laughed when i told him about the review. He said something like "And they claim McFly are rock"

But anyway, all reviews (barring Kerrang) seem good!

Er, still buying me that pint then, Russell?
:D

No offence taken fellas- it's just a job. Are you all the embodiment of your employers? Not here to bicker - I'm here to celebrate.
it's The Wildhearts day after all.

To be honest, I've been a member on this board for quite a while - but, apart from the odd hint, held off revealing I was the one behind The Sun coverage. Should have stuck to that.

On Cloud 9 Back in January, I wanted to come on and rave about the recording of the new album and to share the experience of spending a night in a haunted castle with The Wildhearts with fellow fans. Instinct told me not to - appears it was right.
Bugger.

Anyone wants to discuss this further, I'll be the one who parked the white van outside KoKos, with a Page 3 bird on each arm while whistling along to Nita Nitro in a chirpy cockney fashion.

Now, about those Wildhearts...

Yeah, if you are going to the Purple Turtle before the gig, I'll get you a pint. Or if you see me in the at Koko, I sort you out for a large one.

As to being the embodiment of your employers, I would have to say yes, as I am self employed. Having said that the boss can be a right cunt somedays.

Nah it's great that you let slip that you're on here. So what if people post about how they don't like the Sun ... like you said the positive side here is that the Sun had a good Wildhearts review in it whereaqs the negative is ... whatever... ;-)

(for the record I am not a fan of the Sun but then I'm not a fan of any other newspaper either as they all print crap from time to time)
In an ideal world there'd be no time for ideals.

I used to have the Star dropped outside my hotel door but it made mew angry. As far as I know they still feature Danielle Loyd about three times a week on the front page.

I am getting worked up just thinking about it. They are indicative of the moral decline that is sweeping this country, and likely all of Werstern culture. "Celebrity" sickens me if I was from the middle east I would want to blow us up. I hate us. We make me sick.

Yes, it's alright to be a vicious, talent-free racist as long as you're OK to look at, apparently.
