As far as I'm concerned, anyone who delivers letters is named "Postman Pat"

Bought two copies from HMV Japan and been stung by £17.10 Custom Charge.
Made both copies very expensive. Not happy. Bloody European Union import rules!!!
p.s.
Fantastic album.

Had to pay Parcel Force the extra charge on line.
Because I ordered two cd's my parcel had a value of over £18.
European Union import rules say that any goods imported with value over £18 are subject to Custom Charges.

Think it's pot luck if you get caught for import tax or not. The last order I had from HMV JP was for Yoni and God Damn Whores, and they both came though the door without a hitch.

Shouldn't get stung for my Japanese copy of the new album hopefully, thanks to the fantastic Yugo sending it to me :)

That's interesting - got to go and get mine (2 CDs) from Parcel Force tomorrow. Whereas last time round (also 2 CDs), it just came through the letterbox no questions asked.

It could be another 17 quid???? Eek.

It's all laid out here.

Two CDs at a similar price to the WH is about £21(?), so you'd pay £3.70ish VAT and no import duty. Most of what you paid would have probably been Parcel Farce's processing charges.

It is pot luck to a certain extent, but I'd imagine larger parcels attract more attention. :?

When I've imported DVDs over £18 before it's usually cost me about £8/£9 to get it from the Post Office. As far as I can figure, £4 is for the Post Office charging you for dropping that lovely postcard through your door telling you you owe them money. Oh, they also put a sticker on your parcel and I suppose the Christmas party doesn't pay for itself. Anyway, the rest is the customs charge. £17 seems steeeeeep.

Picked up my package today and wasn't charged. But both albums I ordered managed to get badly damaged in transit. How does a digipak get damaged for goodness sake? A big part of the plastic (where you put the CD) was snapped off. They'd have to have used it as a bloody football.

Will contact HMV Japan tonight and see if they feel generous.
