New songs at the gigs

Postby boobooboots » 26th Apr 07, 10:26

I've read that the guys are only playing 2 or 3 new songs on this tour... and that Ginger says that he thinks that people don't like hearing new material.

Personally, i agree that i'm not keen on hearing loads of new material BEFORE an album is released, but once we've purchased it and listened to it to death, we WANT to hear the new stuff played live.

Please Ginger... add at least a couple more to the set list. It's a killer album (and we all agree on that already) so let's hear it now on this tour!

Thoughts, anyone?

Yeah, I'd agree it's a good idea. Although the problem is that the Wildies have way too many songs that everyone wants to hear. After 6 albums and well over 100 songs, which ones do you choose? 2 is probably about right unfortunately.

Yeah i see your point about 6 albums of material etc... but from what i've seen of the set lists so far, there isn't a great deal of difference between this set and what we got at Wolverhampton at Xmas or even Scarborough Castle.

I'd love to hear some of this new stuff live, even if it meant dropping a couple of the 'classics' for just one tour.

The simple (!) way of addressing this problem is if the band booked out a venue for a week, and played an album per night (like Cheap Trick did last year(?) ) :D

I'd happily take a week off work to go somewhere for that. Unless they did it somewhere in the midlands, like Rock City for example, then I could just go to work looking like shit ;)

Hell yes. Normally, I don't like hearing a lot of new stuff... but this album is something special and I want to hear every song off it played live. Imagine how ace Destroy All Monsters would sound live \m/
In an ideal world there'd be no time for ideals.

Less Than Jake are doing that around August time i think at the Astoria or the Forum, no to sure off the top of me head, playing every album in full in order one per night including one night for b-sides, rarities and soundtrack tracks, not bad going but i seem to think their earlier albums only lasted for about half an hour so i think that'd be a bit of a pisser compared to the later albums
Did you just say "Pig Flute"?

Think 3 would be about right - new Flesh would be great but think maybe Bi-Polar Baby would be more instant and catchy for those who haven't heard the record.

Personally though, would love to hear Sweetest Song the most. Perfect for moving to and whipping up the record with that nice nice melodic chorus to break before the chaos kicks in again.
