As a guy who thinks about his music as he gets older, I've really been discovering The Wildhearts. I live in America...but I was born in England. But that doesn't matter when I listen to OCD and Lake of Piss from Riff after Riff (the only release you can get afforably in the US--I got mine for $6.99 2 years ago).
I picked up The Wildhearts Strike Back tonight. $30 bux from Amoeba but well worth it. Vanilla Radio and OCD live are worth it alone. I was happily surprised that Jase Edwards prouced that album. A quality guy--I had the pleasure of working with him during the NYC '06 dates. And an amazing guitarist--ask him to play some Van Halen.

What do the real Wildhearts fans think of that album? Would love to know.

Hey there....which part of CA are you in?

?????? JEEZ...I know we all have our own opinions, but "Potatoes" is pure classic relaxed fun. I would actually take Potatoes over Valor or Yoni.......

.....stands back and waits for the firing squad

LOL no firing squad from me, I'm perfectly able to agree to disagree, especially when it comes to opinions on music! Don't get me wrong, Potatoes is still better than some albums in my collection, I just don't rate it as highly as other Gingery releases.

On a Weekend-y note - does anyone have an MP3 of the version of Weekend from the vinyl ...Strike Back?

I don't condone piracy, etc., etc., but my record player's out of service and I begrudge buying the vinyl before it's fixed, which (money as it is at the moment) I can't honestly tell you when will be.

Maybe not desperate for Weekend but I do think it's a canny song that I'd like a snazzy new version of.

Also, anyone know where it was recorded?

I actually think 'Strikes Back' is a terrible album. Definately my least favourite of everything they have done. Having seen them live from day one, I think this album is a pretty poor representation of the power they have onstage.

It seems (to me), there is a total lack of any sort of atmosphere or cohesion, when we all know that live is where they shine.

For live performances, nothing comes close to 'Tokyo Suits Me' or even any decent quality bootleg. 8)

You may also be able to find 'Earth Vs.' & 'The Wildhearts Must Be Destroyed' over here as well as they were given US releases. 'Earth Vs.' may be hard to find as it is now deleted (apparently) but you may be able to get 'Destroyed' from Best Buy (It's in my local one anyway) 8)
