Review in Q magazine today?

Postby inglorious01 » 1st May 07, 12:51

I believe the new edition of Q magazine is out today. Does anyone know if the new album gets a review in it? The mag is in a sealed bag unfortunately so it may require purchase to have a look.

Quite frankly, something I'm not willing to do!!

They did review it, and they gave it two stars. They liked Bi-Polar Baby but not Rooting For The Bad Guy, and seeing as the latter kicks it off I guess it was doomed from the outset. Didn't like the way they called them 'stupid' though.

Well, quite frankly, if anyone bought that mag, I hope they find the pages soft, strong and thoroughly absorbent!

I remember Q giving Endless Nameless four stars and calling the band innovative and the only ones pushing rock n roll forward at the time.

Cracking analysis? Or poor judgement?

New lp is easily four stars. Purely for the riffs. 8)

Like I've said elsewhere, 'Earth Vs, 'PHUQ', 'FFL '96' and even 'Coupled With' all received 4 stars from Q in the past. Ah, well...

I guess you takes yer chance with mags that try to cover pretty much everything as to which reviewer you get. They don't have the time to play something to death before they have to form an opinion - there're people on here who aren't quite sure after playing it for a week (I know I still am, I'm coming down further one side than the other, but I still have love/hate times with it, same as with all the others (apart from Earth Vs, but I didn't have a reference point then) - I think it'll work itself out when I start playing it on random with all the other stuff (oh, and finish learning all the words)). Or I suppose it's possible they just didn't like it... Nah.

Cracking analysis? Or poor judgement? Over Endless Nameless? I can't imagine anybody's ever going to come up with an answer to that...
