Mr Presley.
I defy you to scream through one complete verse of the Sweetest Song in one go. Sitting down.

Oh, and I never got my Energetic Krusher tape copy.

Another observation for you all (as a guitarist/singer)- Rooting For The Bad Guy isn't all that difficult to sing, as there's plenty of room to breathe and also move around.

As much as I love the material, they've shot themselves in the foot vocal wise - New Flesh is a constant stream of lyrics also. For anyone who saw 'em play this at the first date, did they pull it off?

Oo-eer. He said Pull it off.

I can take the moral highground because I'm not paid to! :P

However I'd say it wasn't any more severe than say Nexus Icon or Suckerpunch, just more gutteral.

Truer words have seldom been spoken. I remember the first time I sat down and actually read through the lyric sheet while listening to the song. I couldn't believe how much was actually being crammed into each verse, plus of course, the pure venom of the delivery.

They seem to play caffienebomb quite happily live, sure they can handle new flesh etc. just think it probably doesn't "fit" in the current set for various reasons.

Exactly! Wordy and fast does not mean unplayable. Inconvenient yes, but certainly do-able.

I'm not convinced that comparing Caffeine Bomb with New Flesh and Sweetest Song is an arguable point.
The speed of the wording in Caffiene Bomb and the length of time a verse lasts (the 2nd verse in particular) are just about do-able live. Ginger and CJ have always 'only just' managed CB on several occasions, but this I love.
Take the New Flesh, the verses are longer, slower pronouncing, different delivery. This applies to SS too.
Hope I'm not getting too anoraky here.

I'd certainly agree about New Flesh, but I'm still not sold on the SS.

Verse length is about 20 seconds with a similar length Scott/CJ/Crowd do some singing section more or less straight after.

I definately think without serious rehersal it'd be best avoided but I don't really see what all the fuss is about in terms of complexity of vocal performance.

I'm not saying it can't be done!!
It's just harder to do.
The whole shot themselves in the foot thing wasn't about being unable to do it. WH have never made it easy on themselves, and this ain't a first or a last. Fact remains, it would've been cool to hear the new single on the albums promotional tour.

New thread?
HARDEST SONGS TO SING LIVE:

Sweetest Song
The New Flesh
Nexus Icon
Caffeine Bomb

So, we do agree in a roundabout way.

Good show tonight... Ginger started off arsey but seemed to cheer up towards the end. A fair bit of jamming too - so definitely different to the Nottingham show!!

Well, a quick comment on the Sweetest Song. It's not only that the verse lyrics are quick and difficult to sing, but the rhythm guitar part is pretty difficult, as it's a half beat behind the vocals, and I bet it's a bitch to play and sing.
