I've still got that kicking about on cassette as well, along with the Radio 1 Sound City '96 gig in Leeds (including two of the support bands), a show which has particular sentimental value as it was the first proper I gig I attended. Aah, those were the days...

Was that Leeds gig the week before 'Sick of Drugs' came out? I think I'd only discovered them a few months earlier and this was the first time since then that they'd released a new single. If I'm right, that gig ( I listened to it live on Radio 1) was the first time I heard '29 x The Pain' as well: I thought it was a new song from the upcoming 'Fishing For Luckies'. Astonished, I was.

Yup thats the gig, I was there to, and i still have the fantastic shirt i bought from that show aswell, who remembers the black long sleeve with the ant head down the sleeve and "The WiLDHEARTS fucked my radio" on the front?

Ahhh them where the days, awesome gig, although one thing did piss me off the singer of cecil dived into the crowd and his mic smashed me in the head, i was not amused, i was only 16 at the time.

Anyone else remember the opening band?

It was Feeder.

Feeder were fucking awesome at that time. I saw them supporting Terrorvision and was blown away and followed them slavishly for about two years... Then they tried to turn into Coldplay and I kinda went off them

i'm convinced this barrowlands gig was my wildhearts cherry, and that they started with "s.i.n." - i could be wrong though.
i do remember they finished with "getting it" and all the roadies did backing vocals :)

loz (who doesn't remember seeing feeder but then again the train might have been late)

YOU SWINE, youve seen Moist live, that was a bad I always wanted to see, now i cant as they seem to have gone on one of those indefinate hiatus's that bands tend to go on when they cant be arsed to tell people theyve split up

Well, the broadcast started partway through the Rock Show and went straight across to the Barrowlands to join the Wildhearts mid-set. Which would be why it starts with Who Shit... The performance was the one that finally convinced me to go out and buy all the Wildhearts albums after being given bad taped copies by a mate. It was monumental.

Yep, they opened the set with S.I.N and I Wanna Go..., I'm pretty sure they had pyro too. The crowd went fucking mental every time. :D

that was a brilliant gig as well -so intense. the singer was climbing all over the keyboard player and throwinmg ice cubes around. one of the best shows i've ever seen. they released a few albums that seemed to get mellower with each release. i know the singer david something has some solo albums but i have not heard them.

I wouldn't say their second album was mellower theres some pretty heavy stuff, Mercedes Five and Dime was a bit hit and miss though, David Ushers solo stuff isnt bad actually, perfect sunday morning stuff
