The Tour's Finally Over: What're Your Final Thoughts?

Postby 29xTheJames » 19th May 07, 12:52

I think critically wise, its been an outstanding tour. On the other hand reports from the first few gigs were abit mild (plus low attendance at some shows), but it seems the tour got better as it went on. A success.
Being a Wildhearts fan rocks.

Shame I only got to do one gig, and when can I do that again?

I thought the Southampton gig was fantastic, especially for the first night of a tour with a new line up and new songs to play. As others have mentioned the energy from the band was really high and the pace never slowed down. You know you're in for a good time when Caffeine Bomb is thrown at you so early in the set. I think this tour and album are a great building block for the new look Wildhearts and I hope they can keep the momentum going.

The Manchester gig was ace, i've never had a bad WH gig in Manchester yet, very sweaty down the front, haven't done that for ages! And like everyone else has said, Scott looks very much at home in the WH. His grin reminds me of the smileybones logo.

Only saw the London show, but thought it was pretty good. Not the best I've seen the band to be honest, but certainly not the worst. The atmosphere certainly wasn't as good as other Wildhearts gigs I've been to in London, but still better than most bands can conjure up. I was a bit disappointed with the lack of songs from the excellent new album, but that subject has already been covered elsewhere and will hopefully be put right on the next tour. I really enjoyed the show overall though, and am looking forward to the tour towards the end of the year. Hopefully at a better venue...

It's definately been a highlight in the 6 years or so that I've been following the Wildhearts.

Personally speaking, I managed to get a couple of gigs in and finally saw the buggers in my home town, plus I got to meet a whole whack of cool folk and ended up on this here board.

Gig wise, stunning. While I've seen better set lists, it's been rare that I've seen them play with greater ferocity or energy.

It's great to see Rich back behind the kit, and any doubts that I had about Scott were annihilated. He's brought an energy that has been lost for some time, and has returned me to a state of excitement that I haven't felt towards the 'Hearts since I first discovered them.

Scott's tour? I think possibly so...

Very good tour.
Great new, well priced merchandise.
Great set list.
Very well played.
Fucking great fun.
Show wasn't quite long enough. (Coz I'm greedy).
Didn't play in Barrow (I'd love to be able to walk home after a show).

It was my first time seeing them so I have nothing to compare but I thought they were brilliant, the new album is brilliant and the current line up is the best ever IMO. Looking foward to December!

The best I´ve seen them. Very tight. Ritch back really did some magic!

Totally agree!!!
Dave C wrote:Show wasn't quite long enough.

Agree. Should have been 2-3 tracks longer. At least one of them new.

Didn´t play Bergen, Norway. (I´d love to be able to get home without taking the sub, a train, two flights and a ride in a car.

Belfast was absolutely fantastic

a great set, flawless performance, the merch was dead on and great prices....a lot of my wages went to the band haha.

Scott is a fucking revelation and Ritch was a very welcome return.as for Ginger and CJ? once again the glue of the band and in all my years i have never heard Ginger sound as good.the set list was great, with the wealth of material at their disposal it's going to be hard to please everyone, however the band fucking rocked.

could this be the ultimate line up? so far i have to say yes....

roll on December
