Flights for NY

Postby Orient » 1st Jul 07, 23:27

Anyone planning on flying to NY for the Oct gigs? if so can anyone give us a rough idea of how much the flights would cost? (Britain to NY obviously)...? Anyone done it before?

Shit, and I thought I'd hunted out a great bargain with Virgina Atlantic, Heathrow to JFK for £358

And I see you're planning to stay the same length of time as me, except you're going the day before

Of course this is all conjecture, personally, I need to know the gigs are going to happen and they have their visas before I commit any money to it

Too many to recommed one, but we might all be able to pick one. www.hotels.com

I'll look for a hotel near where the boat departs from Manhattan. For the Friday night gig, the metro can get you over to Brooklyn, but you'll need a cab to get back. Just like London.

ugh... you all make me jealous. To fly straight to NYC from Regina I am looking at CAD$1500 for two return tickets. (about 710 pounds).

If I drive to Minneapolis and then fly to NYC I would spend only about $200 on gas and then about $850 on plane tickets. I can see it now: "Yes, I'm from out of the country. My purpose while here is to board a plane bound for New York City. Yes, I'll step out of the car, but why?" ..........

I just found a "companion rate" with Greyhound that would get my girl and I a return bus ticket to NYC. Tax paid, CAD$490, or about 230 pounds. The problem is, that would take 54 hours to get there. Driving nonstop in a car, it would be about 30 hours and would cost about the same.

Benefits: I don't have to drive. I can watch movies, read, and sleep the entire time instead of just half the time.
Downfalls: It takes a fucking LONG time to get there. I have to take two extra vacation days to make it work.
Wash: monetary cost. Can't sleep well on either vehicle.

what do I do? Yeah, I know, I have to sort this one out myself.

I'll go look into suncountry right away.

I'm curious what you think about what customs is going to say to me as I attempt to cross the border and state that my business is to go to New York for a concert. I have to be upfront about that fact that I am taking a plane because if they find my tickets after the fact it will just look worse. You don't think they'll find me at all suspicious?
