If the re-furb on Academy 1 is as big as rumoured then it's a borderline arena gig!!
I'm well pleased with that, the last time they played there with Therapy? was ace.
Academy 1 is one of my favourite venues ever!

Do you get to the Barrowlands in Glasgow at all??? That, for me, is the single greatest venue I've ever been to. Perfect size, good access to the bars. Just a great general rock'n'roll atmosphere no matter who you're seeing.
It's the best place to see NIN just as it is the best place to see LCD!! I love it!!

It's a shame too, cause more and more bands are being lured to the Academy (which would be great if we didn't know there was a far better place a mile along the road!!) instead and gigs at the Barras are so few and far between thet me and my mates savour every one we are lucky enough to get to now!!!

Plus, every so often you hear scary rumours that it's to be demolished.
Did you lie to us, Tony?

Never been to the Barrowlands but I'm well aware of its legendary status.
Maybe a seperate thread in The Cloakroom on venues could be a winner! :D

It's weird that they're playing a 3000 capacity venue in Manchester but only a 1200 capacity venue in London. Surely it should be the other way round!!!

Yeah.. it'll be because before the refurb Academy 1 was about 1800 capacity. No one knows what the new capacity will be when it re-opens, cos they haven't actually said, but the initial plans were for something Apollo-rivalling.

Even if the capacity stays 1800-ish, it'll still be the biggest venue I've ever seen them in. (I think, anyway?)

Fair enough. Hoping the London show gets upgraded - it'd be really good to see them play somewhere like Brixton Academy or Shepherds Bush Empire......

Yep.

The Civic holds:-
Standing: 3000 Seated: 2215* (Ground Floor = 1448*, Balcony = 578, Standing Balc = 189) * may be reduced due to mixer position

And The Wulfrun holds:-
Standing: 1134 Seated 672 * * Capacity may be reduced for mixer position

Its the bouncy floor what makes it so special haha!! Top venue.

It'll never get demolished as it's now a listed building

First gig I ever saw was the Wildhearts in there so its very special to me.
