It did annoy me a bit when Alex Kane slagged off Babyshambles whilst admitting he didn't even know if Pete Doherty had ever made a record. For the record (no pun intended) he's made three albums, 20 or so original b-sides & about 5 albums worth of acoustic material, most of which I thought were really good. Oh, and I saw them live in Liverpool & they rocked.

Of course you're not going to like them if you get your opinions on them from The Daily Star or fucking Heat magazine. You might not like them anyway but actually listening to them or the Libertines would be a start. I mean, how much would it piss you off if everyone labelled Danny a talentless junkie without ever listening to the Wildhearts or the Yo-Yos?

He was right about Razorlight, though. Borrell's so far up his own arse he can see out of his mouth...

...Which proves my point rather neatly. Now repeat that sentence replacing 'Pete' with 'Danny' & see how many people agree. Actually, Danny Dozy would just make him sound like one of the Crankies, but I digress... Its about THE MUSIC, people! If you don't like the music, that's fair enough. But last time I checked being scruffy (or indeed being a smackhead) doesn't disqualify you from writing good music. Ginger writes a ripping tune but isn't often seen in Armani & a shiny pair of brogues & is certainly no saint when it comes to the ol' brown 'n' white combo. Wait for the new 'Shambles album, I suspect all will become clear...

I don't like the way that Pete is portrayed in the media. However when I see him interviewed I always find him engaging and amusing. Whilst I am not a lover of either The Libertines or Babyshambles I think that he has written some very good lyrics.

I agree with the replace in Pete with Danny idea, or to a lesser degree Ginger back in the day.

What you have to admire is that most people in the UK know who he is and that he is a musician. Sadly the same cannot be said for any of the Wildhearts.

As they say, there is no such thing as bad press, just bad press releases.

I've only seen Babyshambles - typically I didn't discover the Libs until they'd already left the building - but I thought it was a great gig, though that could have been to do with the [ahem]...'extra-curricular activities' going on that night. When in Rome & all that...
