But yeah, mid-90s the Wildies were everywhere... The death of the charts and the death of music programmes on the tv has put paid to that. Although it would be ace to see them on Jools Holland.

ha ha, yeah! i remember sepultura on The Word i think it was, when they had all the seps fans in a cage or something....bizarre.

i was introduced to the wildies by hearing shitsville on the friday night rock show on radio 1, the one with claire sturgess....definitely saw a few videos in the PHUQ era on the itv chart show and stuff...aaahh, the days when 'i wanna go...' was everywhere....that seriously should have been a number 1 record...

I used to love that show! Nothing has ever come close to replacing it on terrestrial TV. :(

I remember seeing one band on there, and several years later got to know the bass player as a Wildhearts LiSTEE.

Do you remember Donita Sparks from L7 dropping her pants live on The Word in '92 ? Can't remember which song they were playing at the time.

It was Pretend We're Dead. I loved The Word and they had some great bands on. Jellyfish, Redd Kross, Senseless Things and of course lots of stupidity in between. Eddie Vedder drinking someone else's bile, anyone? We shall never see its like again.

First time i ever hear Therapy was on the word and the song was Going Nowhere and fucking hated it, what a naive youth i was i couldnt have been anymore wrong now i think theyre a top band.

I saw Soul Asylum on there to who are still one of my favourite bands ever, there are only two bands i still listen to from when i was 13 SA and our boys that this here message board is dedicated to, was really wierd seeing SA on the Word though as they had cage dancers behind them so Dave Pirner decided to freak them out a bit by screaming something about sucking the scum from satans asshole, which was a nice thing to hear while youre watching it with your gran.

Terry Christian though, what a twat.
Did you just say "Pig Flute"?

I remember the Eddie Vadder thing, they were showing footage from The Jim Rose Circus which he was a guest.
That now reminds me of a section of the show which people would do all sorts of sick and nasty things just to get on TV

I am old... it I remember it originally as 'The Power Hour' which used to be on at something like 3am on an early Saturday morning. I used to tape all 3 religiously and more than often come in very pissed and watch it. The great thing about that it that I could watch it again the next day and not remember any of the bands aired. This was also my introduction to The Wildhearts with 'Nothing Ever Changes' ahh great days!!!
