New Flesh single - b-sides?

Postby Nickinvincible » 5th Sep 07, 13:06

I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere, but I'm just back from holiday! Have been scrolling the messageboard and not seen it....

So - New Flesh out 1 Oct, will it be on CD (ie not just a downloadable track) and therefore are there b-sides?

From the official site news page from over a month ago...
"The New Flesh is due to be the next single from 'The Wildhearts', scheduled for release 1st October and is set to be a conventional single, with b-sides and everything. More news as we get it..."
Track names would be nice so I know whether or not Ill get to hear Oh Bonita without downloading it...and we'd get to know if its just a few b-sides or a few more spread out over different versions of the single like before...

At least we know one thing for sure: whatever B-sides there are, they will all be compilated on one disc eventually.

I'm guessing Zen Requiem is one of them, since that's a title we heard and then it never showed up on the album.

I think that Including bonita and spencers would be extremely cheap, and as an owner of the Jap version of the album, I will not buy it.

5-6 new songs spread across three singles? Bring them on. I'll take three of each.

I wouldn't mind if Bonita showed up, but Spencers is a bit of a cop-out really and I'd be a little annoyed at having to pay for that one a second time.

But those two tracks were only bonuses for the Japanese market who don't get the singles and B-sides that we (in the UK at least) do. They're not, as yet, officially released here, so for that part of the fanbase who don't go all out and buy every version of everything released (and I'm told there are a few: Freaks  ), they'll be new songs.

That said, however, I can't imagine them bothering to put Spencers out, it's more of an interlude than a separate track.

It's been the same for most of the other Japanese releases (apart from Endless Nameless which got Pump It Up and FFL which got 2 re-recordings; Caffeine Bomb - which isn't on the Jap Earth Vs; and BM-BY which turned up on the best of)... Earth Vs got Show A Little Emotion and Down On London, PHUQ got Channel Bop and Lovebank (which at the time were UK fanclub only, and had no intended widespread release date ever) and TWMBD got Bang! and Move On. Those guys have to wait until they get something like RARAMFR or Anthem: The Single Tracks to hear stuff that we've already got. Did Coupled With even get released there?

Wasn't Riff After Riff... the Jap version of the Vanilla Radio stuff? (with Stormy added in for good measure)

Mind you, there have been about 3 different RARAMFRs that I can think of.

I don't really care what the B sides are - I've only got the UK album. I'll be buying the single(s) for the B sides, whatever they may be.

Yeah it was, but it wasn't a single release like here, it was put out as a sort of mini album. (I just had a quick look, and they only got Coupled With as an import, so they're still officially missing about 8 or 10 b-sides)

Well there was the Jap version, The US version (retitled RAR) and the special hologram edition US translucent red vinyl, with a different band member's face imprinted in each one - you have to hold it up to the light at the right angle - kudos if you got the limited Ginger one.

Hang on...

Yep, I've found the original press release.

Have just found out a little more info on the USA :: Riff after Riff release.

Some of them are more collectable than others .

50% of them have a WH band member image imprint within the LP or CD.
The image can only be seen held up to natural sunlight ( as opposed to
room lighting ) outdoors. I've been outdoors this morning checking.
Its a marketing idea being developed by AFD ( Audio Face Designs )
in the USA to encourage fans to buy discs more than once with the
different band members on. ( bit of a rip off I think !! )
If successful on the low key WH release the idea will be rolled out to
other bands.

Its quite freaky ; as when I look at em indoors the image don't show :
outside held up in natural sunlight its quite clear.
I've just checked all the C1 stock for curiosity :: our remaining
stock
shows Ginger on 8 disc CJ on 3 Danny on 3 Stidi 2 and 19 discs
with no image at all. The Ginger ones only wink when tilted.
There sems to be the most of Ginger. Could become very collectable!

Did you get a band member imprint on yours ? just curious.

Three guesses as to which day of the year this release originated.

I have Riff After Riff on vinyl. A buddy of mine got it for me as a birthday gift at the Philly show in '04. I got it signed by all four members, Ginger, CJ, Stidi, Random, but had to take the wrapper off in order to do so.

Then my kid spilled something on it and it ended up sticking to some papers that were then laid on top of it... we all know how that sort of thing works out.

Anyway, I never took it out and looked for faces or anything.
