He's playing it on Weekend and also on the cover of Live Begins At 40. :D

I was lucky enough to buy the psychobilly cabbie that was listed the other week. Was a bit worried about authenticity, but that was settled beyond all doubt for me.

The guy selling is Patrick, Ginger's brother in law, absolutely top man - organised a personal message and some pictures for me with Ginger and the guitar.

Keep an eye out on e-bay, there is a VERY VERY special guitar that we all know and love coming up soon, I saw it and played it when I went to pick up the cabbie last week.

Old Faithful? Surely not! It'd be such a pity to see that guitar part ways with Ginger.
(And since I probably wouldn't stand a chance of winning it anyway, to see it disappear into some collectors' vault forever.)

I'm probably wildly wrong, but I can't imagine him selling his 50th anniversary Les Paul. I think it was a present from someone (tried to find where I'd read it... failed ).

Are there not two stickered LP's though? The 50th one (worth severeal grand even without the connection) and a LP Custom (I think). 'cos back when I had posters up, I'm sure the sticker pattern varied, even during shots from the same tour... :?

There was also the V from Scarborough that got busted up - they're not sure on whether to get the neck fixed or sell it as it is.

One train of thought is that with a broken neck it won't fetch as much, whilst on the other hand if it gets fixed they think people won't buy it as too many people saw it get smashed.

What do you reckon?

By the way, I bought the cabbie to gig with, not to put in a vault - it's screaming out to be played.

From the Q&A on the BC Rich guitar a few weeks back:
Q: I was wondering what the 6 other guitars were? Specifically if you are selling any of Ginger's Les Pauls or the Smiley Bones guitar. Many thanks, 28-Sep-07
A: Yes, there is a Les Paul guitar. Its the one with all the stickers on as seen in his gig photo's on various websites.

I really hope he isn't selling his Les Paul guitar.

Has the gingered one fallen on hard times so much so that he is going to sell his beloved guitar or is he having a clear out and a sort of fresh beginning?

If it is the former I'm inclined to chip in some dosh to persuade him to keep it and not sell it.
Sure I buy the bands records and t-shirts etc, but it would be a total shame for him to sell the Old Faithful.

The one I saw was the very early stickered LP, with the KISS stickers on. It is not the current LP.

The easiest way to tell the difference is to look at the headstocks (the stickers have evolved quite considerably over the years)

The 50th Anniversary one has this :-

(And, incidentally, is in the States as we write, so unless He's been in and had it out of storage...?)

The regular one probably looks like this :-

The fret markers are different too.

..or the Smiley Bones guitar.
Well that's the most famous one - but it got stolen in New York years ago. If anyone is selling that guitar, it won't be Ginger.
