Certainly a lot easier to listen to than XTRMNTR and Evil Heat..they're Primal Screams Endless Nameless moments.

Aye.. I sometimes love XTRMNTR and Evil Heat, but I need to be in the right mood. Can't wait to see them live again.. I love that they play tracks from most albums. (Though still wish they'd play something off the self-titled one. :/)

Gotta disagree slighty, one of the best things about the Scream is that constantly redefine what they are. I think their best release is XTRMNTR. It's got a constant feel to it much like Screamadelica, some other releases have felt patchy in terms of styles contrasting song to song. Thats not a bad thing, it's evident to a degree on XTRMNTR, but with these 2 albums it feels like a trip. Like one continuous listening experience.

There's nothing better than being in the crowd at a Scream show when they are blasting out Swastika Eyes!!! Totally amazing!!!!

I do like XTRMNTR but i always feel it falls away in the 2nd half of the album.

Swastika eyes turned up loud is immense...possibly one of my favourite Scream songs.

I can see what you mean. I used to question my you needed the Chems remix of Swastika Eyes on there as well as a remix of If They Move, Kill 'Em (albeit a stunning Kevin Shields remix) but it seems to work.

Plus, there is no denying how awsome a tune Shoot Speed/Kill Light is as an album closer!!!

The Chemical Brothers mix didn't really fit on that album at all.It would have fitted well on their Surrender album though.
The Jagz Kooner mix is the Daddy...and i totally agree about Shoot Speed/Kill Light..fantastic.

*nodnod* Yeah, agreed.. I love the Chemical Brothers remix. It's so boingy. And you're not really disagreeing with me, 'cos that's one thing I love about the band. Just that I can usually listen to the rock-ish albums anytime, but the electro ones I need to be in the right mood for.

My favourite track of theirs is probably "I'm Losing More Than I'll Ever Have", tho. :D

No worries, man.
I think I prefer them when they're a little fucked up sounding, when something different is being attemted. I think they nailed it with XTRMNTR, don't really think anyone saw that coming!!!

What really astounds me to this day is that the lead single from that album was the Chems remix of Swastika Eyes and not the original version. I guess that was one of the advantages of being on Creation at the time, doing whatever you felt like really.

Btw (fact fans), XTRMNTR was the last album released on Creation before McGee sold it to Sony .

Damn straight!! Absolute genius Scream moment, the live version on the b side of 'Cry Myself Blind' is outstanding! Chemicals mix of 'Jailbird' rocks hugely as well.
One of the most hit and miss live bands ever though!

You're not kidding. They've done some of the best shows I've ever seen (especially one in Bristol a few years back) and some of the worst (the one at Glastonbury recently - it wasn't "punk", it was "mindless petulance"...)

Mm, any time I've seen their festival performances on TV, they've been pretty awful. But I've seen them in concert around 5 times, and they've always been very fun shows.

b*movie heroes - calibrate

kinda wildhearts-ish, with some nice blasts of double bass drumming here and there. oh, and an EP called "black summer" by the plight, who describe themselves quite accurately as "black flag meets thin lizzy" too.

also i dug out fishing for luckies, which for some unknown reason i haven't listened to since the summer hols (which it pretty much soundtracked for me!)

This week I've been listening to Kyuss. A lot. Because I'm playing One Inch Man at a gig in December...

Also Misty's Big Adventure, a crazy indie band from Brum. They's good!
