Did I just see Conny Bloom on an advert...?

Postby Banky » 22nd Dec 07, 19:01

...for Jameson Irish Whiskey?

Has anyone else seen it? The premise is that a rocker-type (Mr Bloom, decked out in his dreads, jewels, etc) plays a classic rock song on a harp. You know, the whole 'subversion of traditional attitudes to musical styles' gag. But it is Conny! Fucking mad!

It was on the ad break during the Arsenal - Tottenham match if I remember correctly.

Yes, and I read somewhere else in this ere site that he doesn't actually play the harp in the advert.

If you look hard enough, you'll be able to find the thread

Yep, the ad was out a year or two back (one in a series, one of the others was a guy in a business suit drumming), and has resurfaced in the pre-Christmas advertising barrage.

Here's the original thread.

And here's the ad. :D

There's a Conny screensaver too, if that's your bag.

I can tell you what happened. Conny has a friend there in London who does the commercial productions kind of thing. He and Conny hadn't seen each other for ages; their schedules never worked out. Conny's friend said the only way they were going to get to see each other was if they worked together (so they could spend time, too). Conny was recruited to do this advert his friend was working on for whiskey, so he went to London, he was put in the advert, and when they weren't filming, they got to spend time, chat, and drink. The bonus was that Conny got paid for it! That's how he ended up in the advert for Jameson.
