exactly what i was thinking. it wasn't so many years ago that many people thought ginger wouldn't be performing again. and now people are having a good old moan just because he's doing an acoustic tour!

i personally can't wait for the acoustic dates. intimate gigs are the most fun.

I second everything said there yep

Jeez, thanks for that! My thoughts exactly. How many times have you all had the chance to see Ginger in whatever form? Is it not enough that he almost always has a date planned somewhere?

If its not acoustic or electric, it's the production issues or why isnt he playing my town or the marketing and promotion or why release (insert name of latest single) instead of blah blah blah.

It gets really old and makes some people sound like a bunch of spoiled babies. He's supposed to be one of your favorites right?

Agreed. If you don't like the idea of an acoustic tour - don't go to any of the shows!!!! OR be grateful for what you've got and get on with it!

I think the original thoughts on this were from some interview where Ginger said he wasn't feeling the vibe from the crowd, i don't think anyone's genuinely taking a huff due to it being acoustic. I just wanted Ginger to know (if he peruses these pages) that i appreciate the full gigs whether he has Denzel or any other drummer.

I will most likely still be going to the Glasgow Barfly affair, as i know it's going to be a different kind of fun.

I second Andwah there.... Poll is supposed to be a bit of fun, I too am glad that Ginger is constantly touring in different guises. Good to see it's so divided and the poll is quite close.

Finally people are starting to see sense me thinks, do any of the mods fancy adding a new section for talk of the acoustic shows so those who dont like them dont have to read through us lot gassing about it seeing as theyve made it perfectly clear they think they're pointless.

I'd have thought 'Acoustic Thread - Keep Out' would suffice?

Alas, mods don't have that power. :( Sadly there are barriers to my Over-Inflated God Complex...

I thought I'd been a bit blunt, which is very uncharacteristic of me. I wasn't expecting so many people to agree... :D

As far as I can tell, there's a lot of people that get involved in these tours and they all do a lot of other things too... quite frankly, from having spoken to some of the players in question it's clear they lead far more interesting lives than I do (they: music, me: office job in basement), and I would guess these tours factor in 1) who's available and 2) simply whatever they feel like doing. Ginger gave us volume in December and this time round has opted for (relative) quiet...

Blunt? nah not at all mate, I was on the verge of posting "Don't be so fucking childish you cant always get what you want so grow up you selfish bastards!" but i didnt cuz I got scared and didnt want to start an all out war besides I like being seen as the cheeky irritating little bugger of the board not the warmonger..

let me start by saying well done VANRAD for voicing YOUR opinion-----i thought(perhaps mistakenly) that this was the purpose of the forum.Following the logic of the opinion" the tours acoustic--like it or lump it" and applying it to gingers lack of a wider public acclaim maybe we should all just keep our mouths shut and stop spreading the word----because thats the way the musical marketplace is----like it or lump it. Ive seen audience reaction to gingers electric band --the punters really appreciate the band as well as ginger ----so whats so wrong with wanting more of the same???? I strongly suspect that ginger will have a much better chance of converting newcomers and hence promoting his new album with the full band rather than perhaps preaching to the converted acoustically.

I thought the purpose of the forum was for discussion, not constant pissing and moaning about "why isnt Ginger doing enough to make ME happy?"

There's a distinct difference between discussion and constant negativity. Have the complainers stopped to think that maybe he's doing an acoustic tour because that's what HE wants? Maybe, just maybe, he enjoys doing them.

And please......lets not even start the whole "why isnt he doing enough to convert newcomers" crap. He's playing what makes him happy, and if you enjoy it he wants you along for the ride, if not, its your loss. I suspect at this point in his life he's way beyond trying to please everyone else first.

well michelle---ginger sounded pretty pissed off with his lack of wider acclaim in this country for his solo career and appeared to moan a bit on the total rock interview------i am aware that anyone who doesnt worship every single thing that ginger does is frowned upon on these pages---------however------- i will attend any future electric ginger shows ----i aint goin to acoustic------thats all for now

That's fine that you choose not to go to the acoustic shows if its not what you enjoy. My point is ....if you dont like something he does, whats the point in bitching about it?

I don't worship every single thing he does, I just choose to talk about the things I like rather then dwelling on what I don't.

He may get frustrated with his lack of acclaim sometimes but he also gets frustrated with peoples negative attitudes regarding his choices.

BE HAPPY! We're so lucky he shares his gift with us, no matter what form it takes.
