anyone heard or seen these. apparently three of them were in the darkness but the review of their live show over on www.hardrockhouse.com makes them sound interesting. i thought the darkness were shite by the way.

there is also some reviews of the almighty, and the wildhearts on the site.
why do i have to ignore you to get your attention?

Have you heard 'Burn The Witch' yet? Sounds really fucking exciting! Though I do think that having that bald guy as a frontman is a terrible idea. Dan Hawkins is a very underrated guitarist/songwriter though, so I'm looking forward to hearing more from the lads.

For me it was a shame that The Darkness broke up in the first place. They wrote great songs (proven especially on the B-sides), had star quality throughout, didn't take themselves too seriously (some say not seriously enough) and basically helped save popular rock n' roll from the jaws of Coldplay!

For all of Justin Hawkins faults I don't think you can deny that he was one of the greatest frontmen to come out of England in a long, long time! Oh, well...

I agree Richey Edwards doesn't look like a rock frontman - but after seeing Stone Gods at the Underworld last week I can say he is actually pretty good at fronting a band even if he doesn't look the part. The band are rather good live, and not much like the Darkness. Maybe they will support the Wildhearts on the next tour?

Yeah, I know about them. Dan and Ed are original Darkness, Richie was Frank's bass tech then took his place after Frankie left. He stayed with dan and Ed, and then they picked up Toby (although I can't tell you why - I can't STAND the guy!) Justin is still around them, but not in Stone Gods. Best for him personally. No, they don't sound anything like Darkness. Richie took over lead vocals with a very different sound, and Toby plays bass. I can't stand either of those two personally. (Richie used to be nice...) As for the band, haven't seen them live, although you have 3 veteran performers, so they can't be too bad. My big thing is WATCH OUT for the attitudes in the band. BAAAAD VIBE. That's just me. Justin's been great working with them invisibly. Burn The Witch sounds alright, but for me, it isn't spectacular. well produced, but not a standout. I think their website is http://www.stonegods.co.uk Don't quote me on it. You can always get info from http://www.myspace.com/thedarknessdan. (I haven't verified these for a while.) And, NO!!!, I don't want to see them with Wildhearts!! I wish better for Wildies. Hope this helps.

I'm interested to hear what they come up with. But, erm, isn't it better to keep likes, dislikes and "issues" private?

Bought the Burn the Witch EP on Sunday, I really like it. Richie's got a great voice. Look forward to getting the chance to see them live.

I see all kinds of likes and dislikes on this board. Is there some reason I should be specially censored?

No offence was intended. I've just never really liked the airing of views on people online... like the music, dislike the music, that's OK but you know... I can think of a few musicians whose work I love that, if I met them, I think I might not like much as people. And indeed I've met a couple. On the other hand, mind, I know some absolutely lovely musicians too so there you go.

I'm aware that this could all come over a bit "it's all about the music" and the last thing I want to do is sound like Paul Weller. Hopefully that made some kind of sense.

JEEZ! Thanks for posting this. The band has been surpised as anybody at the responses they've gotten. Their view is that they are a new band starting out. They're not signed. .... That's, like, $56 over here! Yikes!
