while watching a Poirot dvd last night which is set in the 1920s, he appears in a scene thats set in a zoo with a few close ups of penguins, nothing wrong with that you may say but bear in mind the first thing that went though my mind was "Did they have penguins back in those days?!"

Its true what they say y'know, the higher your IQ the lower your common sense
Did you just say "Pig Flute"?

Your question intrigued me and the wonderful interweb provided the answers, if you were watching the David Suchet that is. They changed the era in that TV version "Agatha Christie's Poirot" to the 1930's and the penguin house at London Zoo was opened in 1936. Mind you Poirot books referenced times in his life from 1916 to the late 1940's

I think you're crediting Sarc's pondering with too much sense. I'm pretty sure he was wondering whether there were penguins at all back then...

Incidentally, what they really say is: The higher your IQ, the better you are at IQ tests...

yup Beanie got it, iq points are bollocks though, they don't measure how intelligent you are the higher your iq the quicker your brain works.

Having said that if I wanted to fork out the money I could become a member of Mensa

Surely, actually being willing to fork out money to be put on an (otherwise pretty pointless) list should automatically qualify you to have a few IQ points removed...?

Beanie once again is the voice of reason, back to the penguins though I'm actually quite ashamed that my brains first thought was "Did they exist then" so why i even posted it on here I don't know.

It's a well known fact that Penguins were invented by Walt Disney in 1964 for that funny dancing bit in Mary Poppins. :P

Dick van Dyke invented the Cockney, that's why it was so ropey in the beginning.

Surely Death is on Vertigo which is a DC imprint. It was a spin-off from Neil Gaiman's Sandman.

argh! my first post for ages and I'm comic-anoraking.
