i'm sitting at my desk at work and 29 x the pain is blasting through my head phones. it sounds great and it was worth 8.99 just for that. i have all the tracks on various formats but its great to have the various b sides on cd. the packaging is pretty dull - a good plastic case and a booklet that just basically lists the songs and copyrights. strange not to have even a basic bio on a "retrospective."
overall though i'm well chuffed!
why do i have to ignore you to get your attention?

got it yday!

whats the big idea with cuting out the drum intro from suckerpunch haha, love that stuff!

its great to have, but if you have got all the tunes before, dont bother getting it, its nt like the band are getting any royalties from this album.

and what u n get is, all the tracks were quoted as written by walls, appart from i wanna go.... it is writen by ginger!

tere the same person lol, put one or te ther for fucks sake!

if u r gonna get it, get it of the net its WAY cheaper!

I reckon it's pretty good for a WH collection, the only thing i'm unhappy about is that it's missing 'two way idiot mirror'. I agree, it's good to have most of the good B sides on it. Better than the single disc thing that was released before EN.

A question: The Terry Date mixes of the first tracks...
Does this mean these are the Mondo Akimbo versions of the tracks, and if so, is there any difference from the Don't Worry...versions? I don't own Mondo Akimbo, you see. Thanks in advance.

No, Terry Date did the remixes for DBH... that you already have. There's no difference other than they sound a lot better.

This may, or may not, be the reason...

Cheers for the info (again) Ean. Now I have no reason to get the The Works!

While the packaging is pure crap and most everyone here has all this material already, there is one very good reason to pick up "The Works" and that is for the sound quality upgrade. The p.h.u.q. trax sound pretty much the same (they sounded excellent on the original release), but most of the other trax show a significant improvement. The sound quality varies alot on all The Wildhearts original releases, but on this set the sound quality (and the level that the trax were mastered to disc) is surprisingly even from track to track. Much more so than any previous compilation.

If you're just gonna squash the trax into low quality MP3s for your iPod, it's not worth it one bit, but if you you're gonna play this on a decent home stereo, or in the car, you're gonna notice the difference for sure. Something to think about. It's pretty great to have the b-sides sounding so good! For me, that makes this collection very much worth owning.

Just remember, no lyrics, no info, mistake ridden insert, generic packaging, and the same pic printed 3 times... not to mention a lame old school fat boy style cd case instead of a slim line case... honestly one of the worst packaged collections I've ever seen. But... this collection has more music (210 mins worth) with better sound quality than the Japanese 2 cd hits set or the Moodswings box!
