I agree, I was at Download last year. Only thing is you don't have the comedy tent at Download like Leeds/Reading so if you do get a period of crap bands on you can chill out there. Download this year has a bad line up so I think were going to Leeds. Quite Glad as DropkIck Murphys are playing and I missed their recent gig with being pregnant.

But the line ups on festivals now pale in comparison to the early dowload days. Would kill to have been there.

I reckon the 'Hearts could fit in quite nicely on the 2nd stage the same day as BFMV and the Manics. They've supported The Mancis before, many moon ago i must admit.

Still that saturday would be a great day for them as it's mainly indie on the main stage so chuck 'em on the 2nd stage with a bit of metal and a headliner they've previously toured with.

Oh, to all those moaning about Reading/Leeds lineup this year - i reckon it's pretty damn good. Lots of diversity and lots of bands Download would've given their left nut for. Crackin' stuff!

They shouldn't be anything like main support, but a mid-afternoon slot might be OK when it starts to drag a bit and the bottling starts... :?

Next year should be better. AC/DC and Rammstein have got to be in the frame for some UK festival headline action.

Tenacious D have a big and very entertaining stage show. It'll be an hour out of people's whole weekends, and one that should cheer all but the most curmudgeonly. Trust me.

Tenacious D are the single worst band I have ever seen in my 36 years of existance. I saw them in Manc a few Xmas's back. The worst night out in the history of worst nights out. Fact!

I had the pleasure of meeting Melvin Benn (Reading/Leeds organiser) and asked what're the chances of the Wildhearts being booked for this years festival.......

Unfortuantely he frowned and said "The last time i booked them they didn't like me too much". He didn't go into any further detail than that as he was pushed for time. Note, he said "they" weren't too keen on "me" - not the other way around.

I know their last set at Reading was plagued with technical difficulties, i've also heard Hot Steve say that the backstage arrangements for so many bands with all their equipment is less than adequate at Reading. Maybe this caused friction??

It's looking highly unlikely anyway.

I think I saw the Leeds set that year and it was storming. Worked really well in a tent.

Last time I saw Ginger at Reading he was backstage, looking very happy. But then he wasn't playing that year so maybe that's why he looked so chilled out.

I'm getting the feeling that if they were going to play Reading/Leeds we'd have heard about it by now. I still have my fingers crossed for download but if they're not going I probably won't bother, unless someone else good gets added to the line up.
