Yep , I'd actually forgot about that. :)

I'm torn atm , its always nice having the Japan version turn up with the obi and stuff. Think i'll have to give in and order it. :P

Them strip things that come with all japanese cds. Its pretty much the only thing that makes them recognisable as Japanese. Except the Made in Japan in the corners

I wouldn't say least favourite boardee. I would have you down as the board's comedian. :)

oh right, i know what you mean - there's one on a japanese import of feeder's last album (the version with shatter and victoria on it). i don't really see the point in keeping them unless you're collecting it for the sheer fact it's japanese, or for resale value...

It's just marketing. The Japanese market is very concerned about the huge amounts of cheap import CDs that undermine their home producers. Therefore they add some extra 'exclusive' tracks to their home produced CDs to encourage people in Japan to buy the made in Japan version instead of a cheap import version.

Just ordered the 'first edition', whatever it may turn out to be. As soon as someone finds out, let us all know. I'm sure curiosity is raging! At that price I really hope it's worth it.

That's one explanation. The other is that "obi" derived from an abbreviation used in sale adverts describing the item as having its "original band intact".

(Vinyl obis tended to be bands that wrapped all the way around the sleeve.)

Hey ho. I'm off to get a life now.
