I'll be going to the Birmingham show myself (the Carter gig) with the Vilevils (ex Pop Will Eat Itself) and EMF for support.

How bizarre, I was thinking of creating a thread on (some of) these bands the other day.

I recently noticed there was a new Jim Bob album (the Humpty Dumpty one) so bought that, along with the Abdoujaparov album (which I'm not 100% sure on, but might just go to a gig here in Derby)

I've not really had much exposure to Carter USM stuff itself, my interest started with the Jim Bob album 'School'

Well I've recently befriended someone whio lives in london who were into all these sorts of late eighties, early ninties and beyond sorta bands, and hes taught me so so much, we're all going to see carter and neds atomic dustbin at end of year, seeing as i don't know these bands well, were wondering if anyone here were interested...

Pleanty of others I'm listening to atm...Jesus jones, Husker Du, New Model Army, PWEI...to name a few....

Carter are superb.

I keep meaning to order some Jm Bob stuff but haven't got round to it yet.

Neds were superb as well.

Anyone remember Senser?

Ever heard the "Ding Dong" album? Hard to find now but it's worth it for the 'Beeper Song' alone. It's got Abdou & Jim's solo stuff, and ends in a band called "Who's the Daddy Now?' which is pretty much Carter USM. And at the beginning of the WTDN set, ' Jimbob says "roundabout now i'm thinking we should have got a barrier". Chaos ensues.

I'd go with Stacked Up..it's sort of Nu-Metal before anyone had even heard the term.Don't let that put you off though. This album has everything on it from Rock to Dance to Rap..sometimes all in the same song.

To me The Prodigys Fat of the Land album owes a hell of a lot to Stacked Up.

the wonderstuff are doing a eight legged groove machine 20th anniversary show at shepherds bush and dudley in october.
and there is a book from a while back about the neds the wonderstuff and pop will eat itself - the eightlegged dustbin will eatitself by martin roach.
i haven't heard much neds stuff myself but what i have heard i've liked.
i saw one of carter as a support act for my life story ( another band from that era with some great tunes esp. strumpet and its a girl thing) but i can't remember if it was jimbob or fruitbat - was a weird show but some good ideas. and emf supported terrorvison on one tour ( and the weird thing is more people seem to remember emf with their one maybe two hits than have heard of terrorvision who had loads of hit singles!)
why do i have to ignore you to get your attention?
