I'm on hotmail and haven't got any e-mails from Admin since I got their first e-mail to celebrate my joins here.

I'm on hotmail and didn't get the announcement.

So, it's a problem with hotmail, then? That's the vibe I'm getting.

It's possible there's some confusion here. The email in question didn't originate from this site, it came from www.thewildhearts.com marked as "Wildhearts Updates <updates@thewildhearts.com>". The only way you'll be on the list to receive the update messages is if you filled in this box...

Image
...on the main site.

At the risk that I'm missing the sarcasm in MarkE's post: The reason Hotmail seems be singled out is that while it's possible that the messaging software is refusing to send messages with Hotmail addresses, it's more likely that the Hotmail spam filter is a bit on the over-enthusiastic side and is filtering them out before they get to your inbox.

Did any of you guys who didn't get the gig email get the one about the new album that came the next day?

It read...

Hi,

The Wildhearts new covers album "Stop Us If You've Heard This One Before" Vol 1 is out now and available from all good music download sites.

The tracklisting is as follows:

1. Unsung (Helmet)
2. The World Comes Tumblin' (The Distillers)

I'm pretty sure I remember getting the covers album message but not the Earthvs one.

I used to get all of the updates that originated from thewildhearts. com, in the first few months after I subscribed many years ago, but now they are extremely sporadic if not non-existent - and i'm sure I have set my filter to allow all messages from the site.

I do, however, still receive a lot of the postings between the guys that still use the mailing list (the one that functions via yahoogroups.com), which proves to be confusing with regard to information updates as they are often a few days or weeks behind this site when they're discussing a topic.

Nope, didn't get the album e-mail either. Checked spam filter and in theory messages from wildhearts.com should be getting through. I don't think this is a unique or uncommon thing unfortunately, there are a number of things I'm signed up to that don't get to hotmail. I also noticed things such as the Glastonbury spot the bull competition thing now refuse to accept hotmail addresses outright.

I'm on hotmail and have never received anything from WH update.I've submitted my email address loads of times as well.

Luckily for me I get my updates from Kevin, who has worked wonders with the Wildhearts' Facebook group since I gave him admin powers. Makes me feel bad for being so rubbish when I had the reins.

I don't know that you're missing many then. There have only been about 5 this year (A special place where I keep them all for future reference? Moi? Surely not... :coat: )

You guys who are having difficulties with Hotmail might do as well to grab a Googlemail account. You don't even have to use it for anything else; you can set it up to forward everything to your hotmail address. In theory, this should bypass the Hotmail spam filter - It worked when my ISP started bouncing emails from this here board at any rate.

Any tech knowledge around? I've been trying this Googlemail thing, but when trying to add my hotmail to it I can't as -
There was a problem connecting to mail.hotmail.com
Please contact Microsoft's support team for more information on POP access.
Show error details Server returned error: "Connection timed out: There may be a problem with the settings you added. Please contact your other email provider to verify the correct server name and port."

Contacting hotmail only returns the same information that gets automatically entered in Googlemail -
POP Server: mail.hotmail.com Port: 110

Looks like it's going nowhere. [Great riff lodges in head] :?

To forward Googlemail to a Hotmail account...

1. Sign into your Googlemail account.
2. Click on Settings, up in the top right.
3. Select the label marked Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
4. Under Forwarding, select the option marked Forward a copy of incoming mail to...; put your Hotmail address into the box.
5. Decide what you want to do with Googlemail's copy of any messages from the drop-down list. I'd suggest either archiving them or leaving them in your inbox (just in case...).
6. Save the changes.

7. Sign into your Hotmail account.
8. Click on Options, then More Options from the drop-down list.
9. Select Send and receive mail from other e-mail accounts.
10. Follow the instructions at the bottom of the page:-
Receive mail from other accounts without POP3 access.
To receive mail from other accounts without POP3 access, go to your other account and set up automatic forwarding. You’ll be asked what e-mail address you want to forward to—enter your Windows Live Hotmail address. Learn more

To make sure that your forwarded mail always gets to your inbox, you should add the other account to Windows Live Hotmail. Choose the “Add an address to send mail from” button at the top of this page.

11. Send yourself a test email to make sure it works. If it works, you should have a message in your Hotmail inbox, and the same message in either the Googlemail inbox or the folder marked All Mail (Depending on your selection in Step 5). It'll look something like this:-
Verify that you own this e-mail address
You have set up your Windows Live Hotmail account to send messages from this e-mail address.
By adding this address, you'll be able to write messages and send them from this Windows Live Hotmail account:

youraddy@googlemail.com

1. To verify that you own this account and want to send messages from it, click the link below:

http://bl134w.blu134.mail.live.com/mail ... badec3f7c2

2. The link will take you to the sign-in page for Windows Live Hotmail. Just sign in to the account that you want to send mail from. Once you've done that, your mail from that account will start being sent from this address.

If the link appears to be broken, please try one of the following:
Copying and pasting http://bl134w.blu134.mail.live.com/mail ... 6299cb56af into your browser
Signing back in to your Windows Live Hotmail account and going to Options. Choose "Send and receive mail from other e-mail accounts" to resend another verification e-mail.

Please don't reply to this message. If you did not request this address to be added to your Windows Live Hotmail account, then simply delete this message.

Click on the link in the Googlemail version to activate the link between the two systems.

12. Sign up to the Update List and await a message - Probably about the first week in July.

This worked for me just now. :D

Thanks Ean, the only help I got from Windows/MS support was an e-mail asking me for feedback on their support service!
