Thanks, man. It's a relief to get some feedback. I was beginning to question myself a little.

And this is by no means the end of the mixing phase. I'm currently working on #3. Working out some bugs... getting rid of some microphone noise in the empty spaces, trying to bring the bass a little closer to the front. Stuff like that.

I don't see why not, you've done a pretty good job of bringing some sort of organisation to this project so far from what I can see.

I'm happy to get involved on the artwork front and maybe some promotion if that's required but I can't really commit the time to help co-ordinate.

totally agree with this - the distorted one gives it a nice crusty edge. nice work!

Thank you. I'm happier with this every time I listen to it... and I've listened to it hundreds of times now. I've got the mix I want but it's the post-mix adjusting that I can't quite get right.

I hope someone with some mastering experience comes along, because that's one thing I don't think I'm gonna be able to handle.

I can program a drum track for you... but it'll take a lot of discussion beforehand to get on the same page on exactly how you want them done.

Okay... I think I've settled on a mix that I like, but I've decided to give up on trying to "internet master" it, because I just can't get it right no matter what I do... so here's the raw mix. Anyway, the musicians should be submitting raw mixes anyway so the mastering can be applied equally to all tracks at the same time.

So here is my official submission. I think this is about as good as it's gonna get.

I got a friend of mine from another board to run it through and master it for me, and so far the reviews are positive... so I guess here's my official version, at least until it gets the CD treatment.

that, sir, is the dog's bollocks! if all the contributions are this kinda standard, this could be a seriously kickass tribute!

Thanks a lot... it means a lot to me. My friend is currently remastering Vanilla Radio and my own I Think I Can as well.

I just hope some others are able to be more original with their versions than I've been. I've been a terrible hypocrite, criticising the Wildhearts for carbon-copy covering and then going and doing it myself twice less than a month later.

Nope, I think those are all free and clear.

But to be clear, I'm doing multiple songs for the sake of having more to choose from when the time comes, not because I want them all to be included. It end up being that some artists have more than one song on the album, but I'd expect that to be the less likely scenario... so if you're limited by studio time and money, I'd recommend picking one.

Then again, the way things are going there might be room for multiples... so who knows?

I'm working on gothic alt. country versions of Nite Songs &/or Skychaser High but, as I have yet to work out how to make my computer record sound...

Don't hold your breath. :)
