Who else thinks this is amazing and should be released as a single?

Even my girlfriend loves it, and she hates The Wildhearts!

yes it is amazing but it still isn't a patch on the furries original so there wouldn't be any point in releasing it as a single. if the band were looking for a hit single with a cover version then they slipped up big time by not releasing cheers a few years ago!

Totally agree.
I think releasing a cover as a single would be utterly pointless when the original material is always very strong.
I sill struggle to understand why they did an album of covers anyway when quality original material seems to come so naturally.
Who honestly can say that they prefer an album of covers to an album of shiny, new, riff-tastic Wildhearts originals?
I don't see it as a progressive step forward, rather a step to the side.

I can honestly say I look forward to any Wildhearts album. Studio, covers or live.
The covers album has been interesting, to see some influences on the Wildies and making me check out some bands I've never heard before.

Plus, the fact that we've had two Wildhearts albums in two years is frikkin ace. I'll take that any day over the six year gap between EN and THWMBD. While they are a long way off being boring, thank christ for some stability in that bloody band.

the band has obviously put a lot of thought and effort into this project. i mean they could have just turned up screamed through a dozen or so rock standards and buggered off again. most of us would still have bought it.
bring on volume two i say.
why do i have to ignore you to get your attention?

Hope Volume Two makes the light of day, as calling something 'Volume One' kinda kills any chance of 'Volume Two' esp if they haven't even chosen the song yet.

Everyone would prefer a new original album from the band but it doesn't make the covers album pointless. I'm glad I got to hear Carmelita and Understanding Jane and it appears the band had a lot of fun doing this record. As far as I am concerned those songs might as well be Wildhearts songs as I think Understanding Jane sounds better than the original and Carmelita sounds great all punked up and heavier.

To be honest, as much as I love anything vaguely WH related I wasn't particularly excited for a covers album and although I wasn't pleasantly surprised, the covers are so close to the originals that I would have genuinely have preferred a straight compilation CD, like the ones Kerrang used to put on the front of their magazines, with all originals and then Carmalita tagged onto the end.

Ice Hockey Hair is a particular bugbear for me because although it's a cool song, I think it completely kills the pace of the album by slowing things down too much right in the middle. I get occasional urges to listen to it but more often than not I skip it, purely because it's too long and too slow for me to comfortably enjoy on the bus to work when everything around it is a bit more punchy and upbeat.
