"We Are Above You" by Clouds

it's the band started by Adam McGrath after Cave In went on hiatus a coupla years back. proper shitkicking rock with a hint of hardcore-edge and awesome gruffly-yelled harmony vocals. and it's a shit-ton better than my lame description would indicate. discovered these guys totally out of the blue, glad i did.

I gave that a listen the other day, forgot how good it was. especially the track with Maynard from Tool on it.

That's awesome, yeah, I particularly like Knife Party. The female vocals in the middle are just soul piercing...

I went to see China Dogs on Friday for their EP launch (out tomorrow on iTunes), and they are wicked. Thought they absolutely rocked, and are tight as hell.

Check em out www.myspace.com/chinadogs

Anberlin - Cities, had the album for god knows how long but it's a corker, they've unfortunatley been tagged with christian emo tag cuz they started out on Tooth and Nail (christian lable) but they're certainly not emo and while they say they are quite religious it never comes across in the interviews or songs.

I havent really got anything to compare them with but they're guitars are very chunky sounding and their singer has quite a distinctive sounding voice, loads of uptempo songs that are also quite moody sounding at the same time,
Did you just say "Pig Flute"?

I've been listening to "Restless Rubes" by Ninja Gun almost non-stop this last week. It's a really upbeat, laid-back album of country-ish punk/rock. Shades of The Replacements at times, and also Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (so I've been told, haven't heard any Tom Petty yet...).

One of those albums that just oozes charm, and a really good summer record. If anyone's interested, it's streaming here: http://www.punknews.org/bands/ninjagun

I know I post in here a lot, but seriously, this is one of the best albums I've heard in ages, these guys really deserve some exposure.

The Subways - All Or Nothing
Incredible album! Thought I'd hate this indie bollox but in still jumping arround the room to this. The guitar is heavy as a really heavy thing. The production from Buch Vig goes along way to making this feel like an instant classic. Seriously, track down Girls And Boys and the summer anthem Turnaround for some of the best brittish 'rock' youve herd in a long while.

Regurgitator - Jingles (Best Of)
Got this on the strength of Everyday Formula for a bout 20p off Amazon and I love it! Some of it tends to vere in to ott Prodigy territory but the rest is just classic pop rock. A really fun brilliant band I have now totally fallen in love with thanks to The Wildies :D

Alkaline Trio - Agony and Irony
Loved Goddamnit but kinda lost track arround Infirmary era. Got Crimson and thought it was ok but this really impressed me. Its nothing I havent herd a hundred times before but its all filtered through a glorious gothic sheen. Very impressive album but shame about Matt's hair
Btw Buy the 2 disc edition for the best packaging ever. The outer hardcase is made to look like an aged tatty cover whilst the cd's come in a hardback book thing that really does make you feel that serious time and effort has gone in to this. Worth a purchase just to see it.

Sign - The Hope
Loved Thank God For Silence but this totally blows it out the water! Sounds like Skid Row doing Metallica through the eyes of HIM! Ive waited 11 months for it to get a UK release but belive me it was worth the wait. Buy it, download it, nick it but for gods sake listen to it!

Other than that, Im currenly compiling complete Foil, The Unband, Icicle Works, Distillers, Helmet, Fugazi, SFA, Toadies, Decendents, Lee Harvey Oswald Band, Gorgea Satellites, Baby Chaos, Regurgitator, Soul Asylem and Warron Zevon discographies :D
Interviewer - "So whats the secret of your longevity?"
Ginger - "Splitting up!"

"Bernard, its hot in the worm."

"School aint shit, I read it in a book"

Head Automatica - Decadence

Truly amazing album. Featuring the guy from Glassjaw (whose name I forget - I'm not that big a Glassjaw fan), mixes old-school dance (70s flavoured) with new-school rock.

That'll be Daryl Palumbo, the second album Popaganda is a corker also if you like Head Automatica you might like the band Men Women and Children who was started by the guitarist of Glassjaw they could be the same band but MW&C have more of a groove element. I highly recommend the song Messy.

Fantastic - thankyou. I'm getting Popaganda after work, on the strength of how good Decadence is - and I only heard it for the first time this morning. Really grabbed me - well impressed. They're kinda like Do Me Bad Things (who are also fantastic) but rockier (and with about 70 less vocalists).
