Post a great song here!

Postby Jason_scorching_past » 5th Nov 08, 01:05

As I have received some good band recommendations from this forum I thought it could be an idea for those interested to post a link to a song they think is decent and then share this with everyone else, maybe get a bit of discussion going on some of the tracks posted?

Basically a chance to find out some stuff you may not have heard or even songs by well known bands you may have missed, perhaps those posting could give a bit of background to the song/band and why you think Wildhearts fans may like it..

I will get the ball rolling with a song by one of my favourite bands Eve 6, they were fairly big in America at one point then released a great album which not many people bought for some reason. One of the best songs on that album is "At Least We're Dreaming" which features some cool tempo changes and a great build-up to the final chorus. Catchy anthemic rock -

Also check out "Anytime" and "Arch Drive Goodbye".

What do you think of this song?

i've just come back from The Fest in Gainesville, so i'm very much in a beardy-punk mood, but here's a few of the more accessible offerings from said genre (generally just slightly heavier pop-punk with gruff vocals).

Off With Their Heads - "I Am You"
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=7ARhoIutZR8

Hot Water Music - "Remedy"
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-sjBpMEscdQ

Dillinger Four - "Gainesville"
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hfWlDXrBN5I

The Lawrence Arms - "The Devil's Takin' Names"
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=qslj96inMTY

and something entirely different - Calexico - "Two Silver Trees"
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=sCA0_bNXAao

EDIT: oh, and as for that Eve 6 song, a bit radio-rock for my usual tastes, but it's a hell of a lot better than most of that kinda stuff, i got a feeling it'll grow on me a bit actually!

They have been since about 2001, David Usher the singer has had about four solo albums out, Mark Makowy (wrote a book called the Indie Band Bible) Jeff Pierce the bassist had another band after the indefinate hiatus that sounds very much like the Replacements and as for the other two Kevin Young and Paul Wilcox not sure what they're up to. The Dvd the released with all their videos is really funny.

Indefinate Hiatus' piss me off cuz its basically a case of "Yeah we've split up but we're to chicken to actually admit it!", another band that did the same are these guys http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoTSaPB9oUI, The Doughboys.

Possibly my favourite song of all time by them.
Did you just say "Pig Flute"?

Oh my god that's a blast from the past. I tried to go and see them at the Leadmill in Sheffield but I was too young to get in the door.

2 albums I know for certain I'll never see again as long as I live are "Big Noise" and "The Good Things In Life" by "Man From Delmonte". The only YouTube homage is here, and it's not one of their better songs:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9MaiVck5Ris

The lyrics are a little different in that they're penned by a homosexual man to his lover. Often heartfelt, raw and close to the bone with a cheery tune behind them.... a different genre to Ginger, but they still carry it off rather well if you ask me.

There are a handful of songs that feature on the soundtrack to my mis-spent youth; this is track 2:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8sHWd3mqi0M

Still get goosebumps on the intro....
"Eternal suffering awaits anyone who questions God's infinite love"

I know there're a few Furries fans on here. Any of you into the Neon Neon album? it's fecking awsome!! I'm going to see them tomorrow in Glasgow.

this is Michael Douglas, one of the best songs on Stainless style. not the best sound on the vid but the live show features everyones favourite sex dwarf, Har Mar Superstar.

Yeah the live version of Sell Out is amazing on White Lines as well but all of them pale into comparison to the acoustic version of Just the One on Drunk in Public complete with Kazoo Solo and the One Way/Ying Dicka Dicky medley

Todays quality tune...to chill outto

there's something amazingly spooky about this song, even before you realise the guy drowned shortly after recording this (listen to the lyrics at 2:30).

Jeff Buckley - "Nightmares By The Sea"

that kinobe tune is great btw, might have to get some of their stuff, my music collection is disturbingly low on stuff to chill out to...
