For example with P.H.U.Q they always play I wanna go..., Just in lust, Nita Nitro etc. Although they may be playing Getting it this time around they seldom play things like Naivety play or Whoa shit.

Just In Lust has never been what you might call a regular, and hasn't been aired at all (AFAIK) since about 2002 - I'm pretty sure tonight was the first time I'd heard it live. Even Jonesing For Jones turns up more often.

Would be nice to hear Woah Shit... or Be My Drug though.

That would have been Mr Ian McNabb, frontman of the Icicle Works. My old uni mate is his roadie so we had a couple in the pub with them beforehand. Poor guy was a little nervous, he'd never met the band before the rehearsal that afternoon - "but they're so LOUD... and they've got tattooes"!

Nice bloke though...

According to Ginger, he was as the newt moments before stage time, but as soon as he stepped on stage he was professionalism personified.

Good gig tonight, though I hope Ginger's voice recovers for Wednesday. Tragedy were great (apart from penguin boy, who was just taking up space. Even Bez does more), and A, who I'd never seen before, were pretty fantastic.

Nice to see a few faces. Helen T and Matt who I stood with 'cos I was Billy-no-mates tonight, and Percy very briefly at the end, before the dash to the carpark as I didn't know how lenient their 11PM close was (wouldn't have put it past them to close the carpark before the gig kicked out).

What a night! After Ginger's solo gig at Worcester (which sucked), and having a cold, I was in 2 minds wether to go, in the end I thought "Fuck it Ive paid £18 for this" and Boy am I glad I went. Tragedy=excellent; rarely does a band make me smile and laugh so much. A? Excellent (seen 'em once before) and the Wildhearts? Fan - bloody-tastic. Gingers voice was a bit ropey on chat but singing was fine. A fine gig, nice warm up to Xmas

Happy Xmas everyone involved on the board and the band. Heres to a great '09.

i've had a shit last couple of weeks, but last night totally turned that around! an amazing gig, and i got to meet up with some awesome people who i haven't seen since last year's wolvo gig!

tragedy were fucking hilarious (shame about the crowd during their set, although hats off to the rather portly topless fella jumping around and getting into the spirit (in more ways than one, no doubt!)). A were brilliant, it's the first time i've seen them, but they sound even better live than on record!

and the wildhearts? fucking top notch, i was well chuffed that they played Caprice, and although i was surprised they didn't play 29x the pain, it was still an amazing set, especially considering ginger's voice giving out on him a bit. only downside to their set was the cunts in the pit who generously decided to give even those people who were politely keeping out of their way a punch or twelve in the spine, but even that couldn't spoil the mood!

I agree with all the comments about wishing they'd vary the set a bit more, but when they play as well as they did last night it doesn't matter what they play, it will be a great gig full of great songs anyway.
It was the first time in a while where I've seen them and they've not complained about technical problems throughout the set, and they got a lot more momentum going as a result. Perhaps only having the one guitar is a good move when that one guitar is the one that works!
Someone (Pudu?) mentioned them wearing the same T-shirt in HRH and Manchester...I hope it wasn't the T-shirt Ginger was wearing last night, that was the same T-shirt he wore at Donnington, on one of his Fox TV appearances and I'm sure at some other gigs in the last few months too. And I've not even worked out yet what the T-shirt represents.
I've seen 'A' about 20 times, and was great to see them back, my only dissapointment was not hearing so many of my favourite songs, but that was alwys going to be the way with such a good band in a support slot. I've been listening to the Tragedy album more than anything else in the last few weeks, and they didn't dissapoint either. Nothing says heavy metal Bee Gees quite like a sequined flying V.
I'm going tommorrow night too, hoping all the bands mix up the sets a bit, but I'll enjoy it either way.

Well Sunday was incredible on all counts

Ran strait to the front and got my usual place - against the barrior directly in front of Scott - the best place to be at a Wildies gig imo

Tragedy were possible the biggest suprise of the night - just mind blowingly impressive I smiled for 20 minutes straight - "And now we'd like to take the next few hours to play some of the Bee Gees lesser known songs - this ones called Stayin Alive"
Meeting the band afterwds was also an experiance especially when I discovered the Oriental backing singers name was Olivia Newton Chong!

Then came A to a roaring reception and it was great to see them tearing in the the classics especially Foghorn and Goin Down even if the the bass was WAY too loud to begin with (as noted by Jasons grimising face and trip to the sound dest after the first song) Jason also mentiond a full tour and recording a new album

Not gonna state the obvious here but the Wildhearts were incredible from "turn the radio down" to "we all went down" - the highlights for me was firstly hearing Gettin It, Red Light Green Light, RFTBG, Caprice and NECBTS together in the set as it sounds like some of these were cut on previous nights but the greatest moment of all was when Ginger sang the opening line of Geordie before realising that the crowd was louder than him and sitting down on the front of the stage as the crowd sang in full voice note perfect with even "hip hip" contributions. That really felt like a special moment with the gleaming smile on Gingers face for the full 3 mins and its a moment I will remember forever.

No fuck christmas but we did get a bit of Elvis to make up for it

The whole band walkin offstage and poor Duncan panicing and telling the crowd that it was the end was a weird moment but all became clear as they all bounded back onstage to a pissed off Duncan who had to quickly plug back in the amps he had just turned off

Brilliant night out, Incredible supports, ace setlist and electric crowd - the perfect night Same time next year guys...

It was more drawn out than last night to get the crowd going and it really worked on a festy crowd. Ritch started off, then Danny started just before he walked on stage and it was just bass and drums for a bit, then Jef did the same, then Ginger with the intro line. They got it going for a good couple of minutes before Ginger came on.

It was great when they opened with S.I.N. (In Sin) too.

It's a really effective trick. It worked brilliantly last year when they opened with Unbroken and CJ kicked it off on his own, with the rest follwing one by one.

love that song...... i think they did it at the cambridge corn exchange around that time.... it is awesome and took me by surprise...

and i forgot they used to start off with nita, i think after a big phase of either, i wanna go or/vanilla and we are talking 12 years ago.... jees

i had a similar conversation with the wife after the Manchester gig. Vanilla doesn't feel a natural way to start in the same way I Wanna Go isn't (to me) a natural end.

Nita Nitro sounds a perfect way to start, with Headfuck at the end.

Bit pedantic I s'pose, given that Manchester on Sunday was a top, top gig! Aside from A - give me Blaze anytime.
