. As a result of that they've been playing it safe ever since... with the pop-luster of Must be Destroyed and the tried-and-true of Self-Titled. It's all great to me as a long-time fan... but it's nothing that's gonna turn on new listeners and nothing that's gonna change anything.
They really need to start pushing the envelope again... taking chances. Lacking that, maybe it's best they just leave us with what we have. I'd rather see them burn out and leave us wanting more than to fade away and end up embarrassing themselves.

i can't believe i've just read this on this forum. and from a guy who has travelled serious distances to see the band.
"the rate they are going "- what the rate that saw them have a resurgence in poularity, blow away download, sell out SBE, release 2 great new albums,a dvd, tour australia, spain, play finland the us,loads of festivals.ALL WITHOUT A RECORD LABEL PUSHING THEM> yeah really seems like a band on its last legs

"end up embarassing themselves" - this is the best band i have ever seen in life, they are fucking awesome live.
as long as i've got ears there is a place for this band in this world.

i cannot for one minute ever see someone with gingers talent ever ever ever embarrass himself musically IF THAT'S WHAT YOU MEANT. and i've been reading all these posts over the last week or so and i for one am just happy to have some sort of ginger material in my life, be it solo or band. but just remember SOME PEOPLE DO LIKE LONG ROLLER COASTER RIDES and we all know being a ginger/wildhearts fan that that's what you're gonna get. but you have still got a choice
is your silence making you lonely?
or is your lonliness making you silent?

My 2 pence:

1. The Wildhearts are still completely relevant. They are better than all current commercial rock music. As someone else said there is no other band (in fact there never has been that I have heard) who do the heavy melodic thing so well.

2. The eponymous album is the best thing Ginger has done since Black Leather Mojo.

3. They do play too loud. I'm still half deaf from the Sheffield gig and next time i see them I will wear earplugs.

4. I have seen the Wildhearts 36 times. They nearly always have a bad sound and complain about having a bad sound. To the person who has never seen Ginger complain about the on stage sound - you are either very lucky or you have been to only a couple of gigs

I shouldn't have said "at the rate they're going" because the self-titled album was definitely a massive leap in the right direction, particularly with Monsters and Authors, in my opinion. If they used those two songs as a template for the next album, I would have no complaints.

Postby fonzie » 29th Dec 08, 22:24

WHAT I THINK IS GONNA HAPPEN IS, WHEN THE WILDHEARTS CALL IT A DAY, THERE WILL BE A FEW YEARS OF NOTHING, THEN OUT OF THE BLUE IT WILL BE LIKE THE RAMONES, EVERY FUCKER WILL BE WEARING WILDHEARTS SHIRTS, IF THATS WHAT HAPPENS, WELL THATS WHAT WILL HAPPEN. THEY ARE FUCKIN AWESOME AND I JUST PETTY EVERYONE THAT HAS NEVER HEARD OF THEM, GINGER IS AWESOME AND THE MUSIC WORLD WOULDNT BE THE SAME FOR ME IF HE CALLED IT A DAY. SO BASICALLY WHAT I AM SAYIN IS YES, THERE IS A PLACE FOR THEM, NOW MORE THAN EVER WITH ALL THE SHIT THATS AROUND THESE DAYS.

OH YEAH, LETS HOPE THE ALMIGHTY CARRY ON TOO :D

I'm afraid I can't read that. I'm not being a grammar snob, but my eyes squint at incessant CAPS.

Another potentially good point once again rendered forever unknown to me through my inabality to withstand blah blah blah pissed and goodnight
