Ginger mentions something like they ACTED(!) in a program called Comics (?) Never herd anything aboot that but would love to know more if the vision in my head of Ginger acting is anythin to go by

Yeah the band where in it and it was written by Linda La Plante (her of Prime Suspect and numerous other hard women programmes, no Nige not Gladiators.), in about 93? 94? possibly even earlier but apparently the producers son was a huge fan and egged him/her to get them in the show. I seem to recall someone saying they played either Everlone or Nothing Ever Chanegs. Never seen it meself but I imagine it'll show up on youtube at some point if it hasn't already.

I can actually remember adverts being on for that series, though it was before I knew about the band. I seem to remember I caught a little bit of the last episode, where the main character dies in a motorbike crash or something? Maybe not.

Aye. From the History:-

Summer 1993 The Wildhearts make a cameo appearance as themselves in the first episode of the Lynda La Plante drama, Comics (shown on Channel 4 in the UK). The drama is about an American stand-up comedian, Johnny Lazar, who goes to London to revive his career after his addiction to drink and drugs make him unpopular with US television audiences. Just as he is about to get his big break in the UK, he becomes embroiled in a murder investigation after he witnesses a gangland killing in Soho. The Wildhearts are seen both on stage in a club and backstage in their dressing room, where their music can miraculously be heard playing in the background as if the band were still on stage. Ginger tells Kerrang! that the band got their part in the drama because the producer's son is a Wildhearts fan.

Velvetpresley said he had it on VHS and was in the process of encoding it and posting it somewhere, but that was a while back and he's not mentioned it since.

I can remember watching it specifically for the Wildhearts... and my memory serves me right, there was a scene in a bar where people are talking and our heroes are belting out a couple of classics, but nobody's really interested! I have a bad memory though.
