Hello! I was working on some tshirt designs and started feeling like doing a wildhearts one. This happened





I was wondering that since alot of wildies fans are older than myself (me be 20) do you consider this wearable? Personally I like it lots more than the last few bouts of tour merch, but I guess I'm biased...

Well I'm older than you and think they look pretty sweet! I'd certainly wear anything that had as cool a design as that - it's eyecatching and bright without being gaudy

...then again when i say older i do just mean by 2 years

Just thought of a way to do it in just one colour, maybe a bit more "safe" colour wise too

I'd say either way - the design's a winner. the colour is a bit more subjective

for example:

On the first pic I much prefer it set against the white shirt, I simply couldn't get away with wearing bright green!

BUT different strokes 'n all that - if a design is good, the colour isn't such an issue.. although if you're on a limited budget to getting things made then of course you can't have loads of different variations. I have no idea how much any of this sort of thing costs to get made.

I like that design and you can see how many colour option there are there, but because it's a good design (IMO, again) it works with most of them


The purely B&W one - I like the way it wouldn't / doesn't just look completely stuck on, you know - not in a standard square box, bordered.... similarly the first set don't have a border as such.

Too right. I would also like that poster to be available to buy. It would make a great cover for a cd, if they record the NYC gig. A great title too. 'The Wildhearts Take New York.'

I don't really know where I'll go with this, I'm tempted to work on a few designs and send them to the band for consideration, I'm just a bit bored of whats been on offer the past year or two, be it the random prints about losing an eye or (have you ever seen the band where one of those?) or the designs that seem to just use stock artwork put together with their name and smileybones.

btw, I have nothing against the artist that did the "all fun til someone loses an eye..." designs, I just don't think they look great on a tshirt, or specifically as a band tee, too random.

i am a black t-shirt with white print fan,,,nearly any design from any band with the black t-shirt &white print looks great,,colour can be a bit to tacky,,go black&white and i'll buy one,,,just think back to the ones you would see the band wearing,,and they always look cool,,

As we're on a artistic t-shirt thread here's some ramblings from me. I'm usually a little disappointed by the WH t-shirts, although admittedly i usually buy one. Sir Euan I think your work is great - it's worth emailling to the band.

It's all personal taste, but I must admit to not being a huge fan of black t-shirts (maybe cos I'm got far too many already) - I like something with a bit of colour, although a vintage look 'grey' is kinda cool.

What I really like is your 'Wild at Heart' signature - it's got many logos in one - that to me being an older (?) fan of 36 shows a little bit of the long history and looks sorta punk!

Maybe it's my age as well but sometimes a smaller sized design does it for me, with a slogan or something a bit more subtle or contemporary (e.g. similar to something you purchase from a clothes shop, but with a music / band related spin). I don't think the band has ever done subtle and don't ask me for examples, but hopefully you know what I mean. I also love it when a band t-shirt copies a brand (The Almighty did a great Irn Bru, the wildhearts also did a Newcastle Brown Ale one).

Oh well said my piece - I wonder if the band actually market research this? I'd imagine a lot of cash could be made on a popular t-shirt.

I agree completely, I'm 34 and a lot of the t-shirt designs don't go with my dress sense. They are nearly always on black which I never normally wear and I only really wear Wildhearts tees to their gigs, hardly ever at the weekend.

I've never really been a big fan of the cartoony, large, in- your- face sort of styles like the Sick of Drugs "bug head" or the big Smileybones designs. I think some of the Danny Deen artwork based ones looked pretty cool though.
