MAY TOUR - STREET TEAM HELP REQUEST

Albums, singles, songs and general Ginger banter

Postby Monica » 15th Mar 09, 12:26

I would be happy & honored to give a hand.
Tony & Ginger in one gig? flipping hell, you can have the other hand and both feet too!!
I am based in Manchester, I have a car, few friends and access to printing facilities & a warehouse.
Count me in.

The poster is now available for download, complete with big space to write in nearest venue details and date.

Note this is a fairly large download (4MB)

Cheers

I am not sure if I only got the first part, but can you confirm that this rectangular pic is the whole download? Catchy colour, excellent font & pic, enough space for venue&time details..however there is no mention about being a solo tour with no Wildhearts songs, no mention of Tony, nor of anyone else (i.e. Jase). I agree on the minimalistic look and I know that anyone following this website will enjoy any kind of gig, but is that enough?
If you are trying to attract more attention shouldnt you put a bit more into it?
As per the details on venue&times, is there any guidelines (i.e. font/size/colours)?
Forgive my ignorance Kris, i am a first time helper!

It's landscape, A3 size and measures 4968px × 3513px, so assuming Ginger goes down to, erm... well, bollock level, you've got it all.

As for the rest of it? Have a think, it's really up to you - if you come up with something, post it and I'm sure between the lot of us we can see about working it into a design for all of them.

Anybody know offhand what the 'Ginger' font is?

Are there going to be some flyers put up for download or would you like me to make some?
I can quite easily make versions with the different dates and venues on, and put 4 on a sheet so they just need to be printed and cut out.

Got the poster - I will see if I can work out what the font is and post it up once I have.
Edit: The font is Souvenir Bold

I think it's probably up to us to adapt what we have and make some, so if you can come up with something, great. :)

As soon as we get a full list of dates, I'm going to knock something up for people to put on their Myspaz/Facebook/Whatever.

Now here is a one for you.
Approach you managers and say you have an major rock act who would like to play a small gig on one of their trains to promote his upcoming tour. Just think of the publicity for Ginger and for you and your company.

I wonder in all seriousness if Ginger would be up for this.

Godo thinking, i'll have a word, see what they reckon, I cant stop having this vision of Queens video with Freddie Mercury et al on the back of a freight train playing as it rolls along LMFAO, and anyway you're just up the way so you up for some street team skullduggery in sheffield ahead of the corporation show? and / or the notts show? methinks a good idea for booze music socialising and advertising!!!!!! :D same goes for anyone in the east midlands

I've added the details of the tour to the Last FM Wildhearts group page.

Ok here's my first bash at doing a poster:

Click for biggeosity.

Feedback please! Have I missed something blimmin' obvious? Don't know door times yet so I can't put that on. I keep thinking the big gap at the top looks odd. I might try another version with less gap. Thoughts?

Liking it. :D

It might be worth shuffling the Ginger up to level with the top of G's heid which would give a bigger gap at the bottom, and make the Laika Dog logo... Oh, hang on *nips off to photoshop*

Bit like this?

It'll leave a bit of space where you could probably add the venue's phone number or website (maybe both if there's space?) or even a ticket link - I don't know which font you used for the writing so I'll leave that to you? ;)

Hmmm, actually, looking at it, is the Ginger a bit high now?

I don't think it needs anything else really - Ginger Acoustic tours are always specifically billed as such, so there shouldn't be any confusion.

street team ideas

Postby tbob1927 » 18th Mar 09, 01:39

Count me in for street teaming in Manchester for the Ruby Lounge. Only idea I have is I've been hankering for a tattoo of the girl from 'The Saga of Me and You' cover for aeons and would be happy to grimace in public so let me know G.

I'll have the 'Cars and Vaginas' girl done back home in Newport too and tag along for the tour. Fuck it!!

Nice to hear yer concentrating on solo stuff as well. 'Bout time it got an airing cos there's some great stuff there. Any chance of 'Drinking in the Daytime'? It's close to home at the moment and a fucking belter to boot!

I've done another one were I've split the difference for the positioning of the word 'Ginger'.
The font I've used for the other text is Cooper Black, which is very similar but doesn't involve me buying Souvenir Bold 'cos it's about £25 just for one font. Bunged in a couple of stars just to make it pretty.

Very Nice! :D

The stars are a nice touch, although they might get a bit squished for some of the longer venue names.

Maybe lift the day and date up just a touch and split the venue and time / price onto two lines? - You could have stars at either end then and the longer names would still fit.

last thing im gonna say on this but i think youre overlooking the fact that these details need to inform non-boardees/non-ginger fans to try to bring in more punters.....if i hadnt been informed via these pages that poster would suggest to me that gingers backing band was laika dog or maybe ginger was doin an accoustic thing with this band the only full band on the night....good poster despie that shortfall
