Assuming the new tuning down is just 'normal' tuning moved down (i.e. each string detuned by the same number of tones), then yes, they could play the old stuff transposed down - It'd be no different to what a lot of singers do as they get older and can't hit the top of their range quite as easily.

It'd sound a bit darker probably, as the different notes in the same chord shapes would have different tonal qualities, but theoretically it wouldn't be any different to actually play - Learning to sing at all again in a different key would probably be the hardest part.

Ah right, thanks, and by that same token I guess they could play the new songs up-tuned ( :? ) like they have with Jackson Whites .

It sounds like they are really enjoying working with this new producer. I can't wait to hear the results.

"Me? I'm just glad I'm in a band that can sound like Primal Scream one second, Kings Of Leon another, and NYC hardcore the next. And still have time for some Dark Side Of The Moon hugeness, Pixies weirdness, and the occasional bit of Cheap Trick meets The Clash."

This album sounds like it's going to be f**king epic!!!!

Maybe we'll just give it to you for being so patient and waiting to hear it for the last two years!

Going to miss these daily updates from the band - have been highly entertaining and great to read over the past few weeks. Given a real insight into the making of the album and Ginger has made some interesting comments in that last post ......

The new album in August - YAY

A new tour in September - YAY YAY (although I have just realised that I am really busy for a lot of September so please let it be after the 13th or I might not manage to make it. I have probably just jinxed that like I did for G's solo dates havent I?)

He cannot rest so we will see plenty of him whether in The Wildhearts or in solo projects - YAY YAY YAY

The Wildhearts will always be around - YAY YAY YAY YAY
Too many fucking bubbles man!

the googles are a great place on the internets

Indeedy... I willl miss the regular updates. Just hope Ginger keeps up the regular tweets as well. It would take a hell of a lot for Ginger to fuck up any project (I can't think of one yet) but this sounds like a corker and I can't wait til August.

I'm pretty excited about this album now, although at first I was a little hesitant. Reading the blog it's now clear that their goal with this one has been to shed the formulas and go in a new and fresh direction... and that's exactly what I've been wanting them to do for pretty much the last ten years.

Some of the song-titles still worry me a little though... but I'll wait and see what they sound like.

Who knew they felt such affection for Steve Wright's baldy sidekick!?

What?
