Hot Snakes

anyone here got a copy of either the first or second Hot Snakes albums ("Automatic Midnight" and "Suicide Invoice"), on CD, that they'd be willing to sell? They're one of those bands that took me ages to really get into, and now that I have, I can't find those two anywhere

Fraid not, I've got Suicide Invoice and Audit in Progress but they're too good to sell! I've also been looking for Automatic Midnight for some time - it's an absolute nightmare to find!

Great band though, there's some of the best punk rock guitar comitted to tape on those albums. If you haven't heard them you might also like Drive Like Jehu, which is one of Speedo and Froberg's earlier bands. They're a lot more math-y / post-hardcore-y but the guitar work is phenomenal

i've actually got all three albums in mp3 form, i'm just one of those weirdos who likes to have an actual CD copy of the albums i like

and yeah, i love drive like jehu - still can't decide which of the two albums i like best though! incidentally, have you heard rick's new band Obits? they're pretty awesome.

Fraid Im not ready to sell but by god, HOT SNAKES man! One of the bands that changed my life.
I have everything they relesed and aulthough I know how hard the first 2 albums are to gt hold of I would recamend Thunder Down Under a kind of live in the studio recording from a radio show which is pretty easy to come by.

As for Drive Like Jehu, I love them too but I find them a lot more challenging to really enjoy if you know what I mean. That said if your willing to sit down and really 'listen' to both albums you will find a truely facinating band. Here Come The Rome Plows is one of my fav songs ever.

On the subject of Reis and Froberg, Pitchfork are a really good band to track down. Kind of an under-developed Hot Snakes. That said, their one and only album is far more awkward to find than Automatic Midnight an Suicide Invoice.
Plus if your really that way enclined, Reis' solo album Back Off Cupids is such an incredible listen and will change the way you think of the word 'acoustic'.

And dont even get me started on Rocket From The Crypt.....

haha the dude IS a legend! unfortunately, as far as his rarer projects go, i've only heard the odd few tracks. i'm intrigued by what i've heard from back off cupids so far though! also can't wait for All Systems Go Vol. 4!

i managed to find a copy of Automatic Midnight in pretty good condition at a second hand CD stall at a market the other day! which was kickass.

however, for anyone who's still looking for that one, if you happen to be in the birmingham area, i noticed the other day that Tempest Records have got a copy in store...
