Who knew that a kilt bought on a whim at Guilfest could bring such joy to a man? He never seems to be without it now.

About the Kerrang winners show on the channel, I was curious to see what video might get picked, so I sky+'d it then skimmed through it at high speeds. Unless there's another band they missed, then the only one that didn't make it onto Tv was the Wildhearts. Even if they havent been in the playlists for ages, surely kerrang tv would get a list of winners to prepare and organise their show long before announcements....

I for one am delighted to observe Ginger Turning Caledonian and finally taking his rightful place as a Scotsman. After all, as a wise man once said 'Geordies are just Jocks who can't blame the English for being fucked up.' ;)

And how come CJ is suddenly taller than Ginger now? Perhaps an inverse effect of increased Scottishness on height? Hmmm, new data to feed into the 4-dimensional Ginger height-calculating quantum supercomputer I'm running in the universe next door. I'm increasingly confident that we should have a definitive answer within 50,000 years.

Wonderful news, and long overdue. Great timing too, what with a major festival appearance and new single the same weekend, and four weeks to a new album, lets hope things all fall together nicely!

Michael Butler?

He of the Rock'n'Roll Geek show podcast, and Listee of this parish (rnrgeek).

Oh, and Ginger's bassist for the LA gigs too.

I'd like to add my congratulations to the Wildhearts for their Kerrang! Award. Same time next year for a sweep on Best Album, Songwriter, Band, Live Act or whatever categories they dream of.

But isn't BBC Radio 6 one of the few places where Ginger has received positive healthy coverage for solo albums and the like? Or are we talking about a Wildhearts embargo in particular?

More a sweeping statement. I have no evidence to back it up, nor would I assert it as fact in any legal capacity. However, I am quite sure of it.

Ever since the reform there has been zero Radio 1 and TV coverage. As far as I know. Compared to SOD and RLGL era when every DJ would seem to play those tracks every day.

(edit - indeed, Radio 6 have. Or so I have readon here.)

I don't think there's a BBC embargo... we had Chris Moyles playing 'Cheers' relatively recently. Let's face it Radio1 will only play what's seen to be the next big thing or the big thing and our heroes don't fit into either that category, yet!! Mwah!

It all comes from the tour they did around the release of So Into You, Ginger said at those gigs that Radio 1 loved the song but hated the Wildhearts - then Ginger urged us all to post Jiffy bags full of plopples to the Radio1 head office, apparently some of us did? Did you? Probably best not to say really.

To counteract rumours of a BBC embargo, fast forward to 1:10...

A bit of trivia I'd not previously been aware of. You can also admire Ginger's censored T-shirt.
