Ginger/Wildhearts Related Jukeboxes

Postby Count » 31st May 06, 09:50

Following on from some of the recent posts regarding jukeboxes with Wildhearts music on them I was wondering if we could list out any jukeboxes we've come across with Ginger/Wildhearts music on them as it would be good to know of places throughout the world which have cool jukeboxes, so if we are ever in that part of the world we know of somewhere good to go?

That was a bit of a long sentence!

I haven't come across any such jukboxes as of yet.

Apologies if this has been suggested/done before.

Uluru in Chorlton, South Manchester has one of those digital jukebox thingys. i did a search for "wildhearts" and it listed about 7 or 8 songs. i was going to put OCD on but at a pound a song I opted for Everlone instead :D

There's one in The Rutland in Chesterfield, but I've never been in there in any fit state to operate a jukebox, so I don't know if there's any Ginger stuff on it or not! One day, we shall see...

I think I've only ever spotted the Wildies twice on jukeboxes - 'I Wanna Go' both times, from that dodgy mid-90s All-Time No1 Rock Album with Stiltskin and stuff on it.

It used to be on a jukebox at The Tudor Inn in St.Andrews a few years ago when I was a student, plus it's still there in The Burns pub in Leslie, next to Glenrothes, Fife. Just a few doors up from Dougray Scott's local when he's back here in Jocksland, irrelevantly enough.

Funnily enough, I put it on in the Leslie pub the Saturday before last, but didn't hear it come on. At about the same time, my little brother was backstage at the Beautiful South's Glasgow Carling Academy gig, and heard I Wanna Go come on there. He said it was the most rock'n'roll bit of the whole after-gig party. Maybe my selection fell through one of those wormholes in the space-time continuum or something.

Christ, I'm full of valuable information tonight.

I can't remember which songs, cos I'm only ever in there on a very drunken Xmas Eve pub crawl, but the jukebox in The General Havelock in Ilford has a couple of Wildies songs on it. I know i've seen other pub jukeboxes with em on, but I really can't remember when or where.

My friend Kath used to manage a pub and she had the Best of the Wildhearts and Earth vs on the jukebox... Sadly, she no longer manages... :(

It's been a while since I was last in there, but I think the Sportsman in Long Eaton (Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire, depending on where you're looking from) had Earth Vs on it. Then it was a pretty rock-friendly pub, so had a fair bit of decent stuff on it.

Did I read that right? A pound per song? That's extortionate! You can buy a single track for less than that from the likes of iTunes/Napster/etc...

It's ridiculous but people still shovel money into it. I remember when you could get 7 songs for a pound in my old (now demolished) local, no wildhearts ones though...

Yep, your best chance is any jukebox with a decent amount of old compilations on it, because they used to be popular on rock compilations back in the day...

Not quite a juke box, but I was staying in a B&B in Blackpool at the weekend, when the rest of the guests came into the bar I asked the landlord to stop playing his crap CD's and put a decent one on. He asked me to fetch one, so I did. A nice mix of Wildhearts, Ginger & Clam Abuse!

One guy said he loved it, and wanted to hear some more.

There's a couple of those 'online' jukeboxes in Sunderland that have access to pretty much anything you could ever want. One of them's the Royalty, and I can't remember the name of the other one, it's just along from the Empire and opposite the Black Bull. I always make a point of putting some Wildhearts on to spread the love. 8)

OoooOoo!

And hm. In a list of 'places to be mentioned on the board', I wasn't expecting that.. You local to Chorlton then? I've never been to Uluru yet. I should probably get out more, as it's walking distance..
