Darkness singer in rehab clinic

Justin Hawkins has gone to the Priory rehab clinic for a rest
The lead singer of rock music band The Darkness has checked himself into the Priory rehabilitation clinic.
The band said Suffolk-born Justin Hawkins was suffering from exhaustion after three years of non-stop work.

The singer, famous for his lycra suits and high-pitched vocals, led the band onto the pop scene in 2003 and they shot to the top with their debut album.

Bass player Frankie Poullain left as they compiled a second record and sales were widely regarded as disappointing.

Now Justin Hawkins has checked into the Priory rehab clinic where Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty is also a patient.

In a statement a spokesman for The Darkness said Mr Hawkins had been told to rest after three years of non-stop work.

The spokesman also answered reports about difficulties experienced in recording the band's second album by saying their label is now looking forward to releasing a third album early next year.

Oh come on folks, give the guy (who has always been very good to The Wildhearts) the benefit of the doubt. He's unwell for whatever reason, I hope he gets better soon.

they will also find out this week that they have been dropped by their record company.

As someone pointed out earlier, the entertainment industry sucks.

Call me contrary, but the first Libertines album was superb and while the guy's an idiot, he's only an idiot to himself, so I hope he sorts himself out. When The Libertines split, you got all art without the rock (Babyshambles) and all rock without the art (Dirty Pretty Things). Bit like the whole At The Drive In/ Mars Volta/ Sparta thing.
