Learning the Guitar

Postby Marc » 21st Feb 06, 20:48

I have just placed an order to buy my first guitar and amp, and was wondering if anyone knew any websites that were good for learning the basics...

Cheers

do you use azureus or anything like that?
if so, go to torrentspy.com and do a search on "guitar"
there will be some tutorial stuff on there

there was a really good site where people could upload lessons for everyone to read. trying to find it now but i cant remember what its called

Total Guitar is good especially if there are CDs with it!

Also check out some tabs of some easy type things - pick a few songs that don't sound too difficult to play (just using open chords to start off with) something like a couple of beatles songs, or whatnot, or perhaps strum along to some Wildhearts..!

(Drunken Lord of Everything is nice and easy to play but requires the use of a "b") Then get some tabs of different songs that have different chords in, learn the different chords, play the songs, get other people who play other instruments to learn the same song...and hey, presto, you've become better at guitar and are in a band! :D

learn your major and minor chords first. and barre chords - they will annoy you at the start but will strengthen up your fingers

are you wanting to learn about music theory too? might help some things make more sence
you should get a book called the AB guide to music theory. you dont need to know the theory side of stuff to learn guitar but it can help
