Is it just me that can't see the point of download-only singles, when we'll all be buying it on CD in a couple more weeks anyway?
I mean, if the single was to be released on physical formats, with B-sides, I'd buy them all. The downloaders would still download it rather than clutter up their life with meaningless records & CDs, and they'd get multiple purchases from collectors and the chance of advertising their comeback with a big chart hit.
Yeah I know that physical singles can be loss leaders that rarely make a profit, but if Round Records can put out Yeah Yeah Yeah on 7" and CD a year after the event, then why not kick off this campaign with a big bang instead of a damp squib?
I know it's only 79p or whatever, but I've never paid to download a track in my life. If it was to be totally exclusive then I'd relent, but it isn't, it's just one track from the album being leaked a little early.
I probably sound like a real dinosaur but I really don't understand the point of download-only singles unless they're exclusive. It's not like 99% of the people who download it won't be buying the full album anyway, so what's in it for us?
Sorry. I don't understand. I want REAL singles with b-sides!
